Summary

The Admission Counselor is the primary contact person between the prospective student and secondary school communities and Tulane University.  The counselor makes frequent public presentations to these groups describing Tulane University, its programs, and its services.  Admission Counselors conduct individual interviews with high school guidance counselors as well as prospective students and their families.

An Admission Counselor at Tulane University is expected to independently research, plan, coordinate, schedule, execute, and evaluate high school visitation and recruitment programs in areas assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Recruitment, seeking guidance only when necessary.  Each Admission Counselor also assists with a number of special projects.  These tasks may include: creating and designing publications, editing and producing multimedia presentations, planning special events both on and off campus, coordinating the activities of alumni, parents, and current students involved in the recruitment effort, serving as a liaison with several University departments and/or college Deans offices, serving on University committees, supervising operations staff and student workers on specific projects, conducting market research, or managing project-specific budgets.Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
