Direct Hire - Property Accountant at Ledgent Finance & Accounting in Stillwater, Minnesota

This is a Direct- Hire and on-site position in the Stillwater area. Remote/hybrid work is not available.


Salary depends on experience - up to $67,000 + potential discretionary bonus!

Position Overview:



We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial records and ensure accurate reporting of the company's assets, liabilities, revenue, and tax obligations. The ideal candidate will have experience in Yardi, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting, with a strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.



Key Responsibilities:



* Prepare and maintain monthly financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.


* Perform account reconciliations for bank accounts, payroll, and customer transactions.


* Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy in accounts payable, receivable, and fixed asset depreciation.


* Audit and review financial documents to validate transaction accuracy before settlements.


* Approve financial transactions within designated limits and ensure compliance with company policies.


* Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records to maintain accuracy.


* Provide recommendations to improve accounting processes related to reserves, assets, and expenditures.


* Support external audits by preparing and submitting necessary documentation.


* Handle tax filings for federal, state, and local agencies.


* Maintain and update accounting control procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.


* Work with software vendors to manage accounting systems and recommend updates as needed.



Qualifications:



* Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred, with at least 2 years of accounting experience, ideally in property management or real estate (or equivalent experience).


* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, along with experience in accounting software.


* Minimum of 1 year of experience with Yardi/Voyager accounting systems.


* Knowledge of GAAP and experience with both cash and accrual accounting.
