Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
As a Sr. Portfolio Analyst, you'll be part of the Portfolio Planning & Optimization team, responsible for improving ROI & optimizing the Digital Analytics and Technology (DAT) organization's annual investment in technology. This role will be specifically focused on ensuring our portfolio planning & data model has high integrity, performance, and is understood across stakeholders.
You and the Portfolio Planning Data Lead will collaborate with key stakeholders to execute portfolio planning data collection, processing, analysis, and output/usage. You will be responsible for continually educating, supporting, evolving, and operationalizing portfolio planning data & tools. Expectations are for the role to contribute to the team's highly collaborative, matrixed and engaged culture.
This role is hybrid which means you will work some days onsite at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
For this role, you must be located within a drivable distance to our office in Richfield, Minnesota.
What you'll do
Planning Tools & Data Model ManagementExtract, clean, and transform data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and internal systems.Maintain and enhance the current set of portfolio planning tools with a focus on simplicity, usability, and impactIdentify, collect, and document process improvement opportunities or changes and work to implement these both during the course of planning and in between planning cycles.Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms.Automate data collection and analysis processes to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.Support the India expansion project & modeling, including cross-functional collaboration.
Planning Data Integrity, Communication & ExecutionEstablish central instructions, user guides, and communications to ensure understanding of the portfolio planning data model and process across key stakeholders (How is data used, processed, collected)Create additional documentation around portfolio planning data including but not limited to placemats, templates, guidelines, FAQs, etc.Ensure data integrity and accuracy during portfolio planning by implementing validation steps, change control processes, and version trackingDrive continuity of data across planning process, ensuring there is clarity for how it comes together (e.g., data flow from collection to processing to reporting)Deliver ad-hoc and scheduled reports to stakeholders, providing clear insights and actionable recommendationsCreate compelling data visualizations and presentations that communicate findings in an easy-to-understand wayUse visualization tools to demonstrate key insights and explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholdersRegularly audit datasets to ensure quality and resolve any inconsistencies or discrepanciesIdentify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to data governance initiatives
Portfolio Management Process ExecutionCollaborate with product managers, portfolio leads and hiring managers to ensure alignment and accuracy of labor allocationAdminister resource time reporting system and execute changes to resourcing as needed (e.g., adding, deactivating resources in time reporting system, etc.)Prepare resource analysis and provide insights to the teams we support Participate in monthly business reviews with VPs and Portfolio Group Leads in collaboration with Portfolio Leads and key partners (e.g. Finance, Controllership) Support pyramid-specific annual/quarterly portfolio planning process and change management
Basic Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, or two years general work experience1+ years demonstrated professional experience related to the roleProficiency in Microsoft ExcelProficiency in Microsoft PowerPointStrong communication skills, both orally and in writingAbility to use critical and strategic thinking and strong reasoning skills to solve problemsAbility to work independently while being a strong team playerAbility to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment and drive results
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Communications or related field1.5+ years experience in IT, Finance, or Procurement functions1+ years managing complex IT program, portfolio financials, resource allocations and/or P&L or budget management experienceAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelExposure to Planview, Power BI, Confluence/Wiki, or Sharepoint, Jira
