Postdoctoral position in Biological Sciences
The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time post-doctoral researcher on a 12-month basis with an anticipated start date of 1 February 2025. The position is subject to annual review and renewable based on the mutual agreement of the post-doctoral researcher and the sponsoring faculty member.
Responsibilities: The Research Assistant Professor will join a laboratory working on microbial genome evolution. Research will include studies focusing on characterizing dinucleotide periodicity, and its impact on gene evolution. The candidate will be expected to perform experiments, analyze data, and participate in the preparation of scientific manuscripts and grant submissions.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a Ph.D. in one of the biological sciences with one or more publications. At a minimum, candidates should have experience in microbial genome analysis and programming in R. Preferred experiences include experience with studying sequence periodicity. Successful candidates will have a strong publication record, be self-motivated, have good communication skills, and work productively in an interdisciplinary team.
