Job Description Summary
The Research Specialist B/C will play a vital role in assisting the Research investigator with team management duties. A successful candidate will be responsible for organizing lab space, managing research protocols, ordering supplies and equipment, as well as maintaining accurate documentation of all laboratory activities and research work, such as DNA vector analysis, DNA extraction, RNA production, DNA/RNA qualification and quantification analyses, etc. The successful applicant will be expected to facilitate and expedite existing projects in the lab, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and perform/support in vitro and in vivo analyses, such as preparation and staining of samples for flow cytometry, performance of immunological assays, and animal work, including injections, bleeding, and harvesting of tissues to assist the research investigator and will need to use more independent judgment in their day to day activities.

Job Responsibilities
Principle duties for the Research Specialist B will involve producing, purifying, and testing mRNA for various projects as well as in vivo work primarily revolving around mice. The candidate is expected to perform various molecular biological assays such as flow staining, ELISA, and western blot as well as maintenance and in vitro work with cell lines and additional work as needed.
Principle duties for the Research Specialist C will involve producing, purifying, and testing mRNA for various projects as well as in vivo work primarily revolving around mice. The candidate is expected to independently plan and perform various molecular biological assays such as flow staining, ELISA, and western blot as well as maintenance and in vitro work with cell lines and additional work as needed. In addition, the candidate for the Research Specialist C will need to have a broad understanding of various microbiological assays as well as the ability to independently develop protocols using publications and other resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
RS-B - Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
RS-C - Bachelor's degree and 3-4 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master's degree or above in Biology/Genetics/Microbiology/Immunology or related field is preferred.
Salary is based on candidate's qualifications, experience, skills and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
