ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The mission of the Office of Clinical Research (OCR) is to provide faculty with resources, information and expertise in clinical research to advance the science of healthcare. The OCR facilitates the process of conducting clinical research, from inception through completion, with the ultimate goal of delivering state of the art healthcare services to the community in the Greater Tampa Bay area and beyond. We are committed to streamlining procedures and enhancing services for clinical investigators and research staff, affiliate partners, extramural sponsors and research volunteers. The strategic services, education and training, and comprehensive review processes provided by the OCR are designed to foster research teams who are benchmarking the next generation standard of care.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Unit Research Administrator will work in a professional capacity with principal investigators and their study teams to manage pre-award research administration for a high volume of complex industry-sponsored clinical trial projects. This position will be a technical leader with specialized knowledge to facilitate development of budgets and to negotiate budget-related terms in the clinical trial agreements. A primary function of the unit research Administrator is to be a liaison to ensure adequate communication between sponsors, CROs, principal investigators, study coordinators, relevant USF departments, affiliate hospitals and vendors. This often requires analysis of unique issues and problems without precedent and/or structure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with the principal investigators and their study teams to develop appropriate budgets ensuring full cost recovery. Confirm quotes provided by study team for vendor services.

Negotiate budget and payment terms for clinical trial agreement amendments.

Negotiate clinical trial agreement/award payment terms while meeting expectations for executed document deadlines within industry/non-industry standards.

Gather essential documents and facilitate project opening in various institutional systems for executed contracts.

Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and 1 year of professional administrative experience; or a Master's degree. Progressively responsible related experience may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

PREFERRED:

1 year of clinical research experience
