ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The College of Design, Art & Performance at USF offers a wide array of classes ranging from arts electives available to the entire USF student population to highly specialized courses for majors in each of our disciplines, as well as a doctoral level program in music education. The College of The Arts is also ambitious in its size and scope, with four separate schools, nearly a dozen different degree programs, two concert halls, three theatres, a professional museum, a student art gallery, a digital media lab, a new Music Building, and Graphicstudio-which is renowned throughout the nation and the world. For our community, the College annually presents approximately 400 public performances, exhibitions, lectures, plays, shows, concerts, workshops and more - by our students and faculty as well as by nationally and internationally recognized artists, scholars, and performers.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr. Unit Research Administrator serves as a consultant, reviewer and coordinator with Fiscal Managers within CDAP. This position acts as a liaison between CDAP Office of Research, Principal investigators, Sponsored Research, and Research Financial Management for the development, review and subsequent administration of grants and contracts. This position is included on the distribution list for Research and Innovation for all CDAP proposals and modifications of awards. This position assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the operation of the CDAP Research Administration and assists in developing and delivering training materials to promote best practices amongst faculty and other administrative departments within the college, as needed. Helps faculty find funding in order to increase the colleges proposal submissions and awarded grants.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research Administration:
Coordinates proposal submission and approval, including checking BiR for compliance concerns, meeting with faculty regarding budget questions, supports Associate/Assistant Dean of Research on resource commitments. Assists with budget preparation and the setup of externally funded awards. Serves as liaison between PI and Sponsored Research. Provides coverage of proposal submissions and management of awards for departments, when needed. Serve as primary point of contact on honorific awards across all CDAP departments.
Find Funding Opportunities:
Assist the faculty with finding funding opportunities that align with their research goals. Focused areas include Studio Arts, Art History, Architecture, Dance, Theatre & Music. This includes studying the faculty's research portfolios to learn what opportunities suite them or assist in developing research portfolios for Faculty. Works closely with the Associate/Assistant Dean of Research to identify funding opportunities and meet with the faculty to assist them with the proposal process.
Compliance Management:
Troubleshoot complex situations with external research funding, performs investigative review to assist with problem solving and facilitation of solutions, aligning with CDAP Associate/Assistant Dean of Research. Oversees effort reporting compliance (primary point of contact): Ensures college-wide completion and submission of all effort and activity reports (PERT) to Research and Financial Management for federal grants. Serves as the CDAP representative on the USFRI DSR - College Collaboration Standing Workgroup.
Training:
Assist in updating and maintaining training program for CDAP URAs and/or Research training of other related administrators. Facilitates meetings/workshops for CDAP URAs. Communicates federal, state and institutional guidelines with CDAP URAs. Provides guidance and overview on college wide funding sources, with focus on internal and external research funds. Create tools for best practices to enhance procedural consistency across departments. Requires advanced knowledge of pre and post-award policies and procedures.
Supervision and Oversight:
Supervise and assist in the research administration efforts for college level URA's & Fiscal & Business Managers handling the research administration for multiple academic units within the college. Works directly with more complex cases such as multiple sub-contracts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and four years of research or research administration experience; A Master's degree may substitute for two years of the required experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelors degree and at least 5 years experience with higher education research administration, familiarity with broad funding agencies, grant management. USF CRA/Advanced TRAIN certification.
