ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The School Mental Health Collaborative (SMHC) Research, Training, and Technical Assistance Center at the University of South Florida (USF) is seeking a Senior (Sr.) Social and Behavioral Researcher to join its existing personnel. SMHC (www.smhcollaborative.org) is a multi-university consortium that conducts research that informs policy and practice related to the promotion of social-emotional and behavioral success of all youth. The Senior Social and Behavioral Researcher would join a rapidly growing team led by USF faculty Co-Directors (Drs. Nate von der Embse, Shannon Suldo, and Evan Dart), and includes a Center Director, two Postdoctoral Fellows, two Research Assistant Professors, and numerous graduate students.
The mission of the SMHC Center is to facilitate and promote access to high-quality and evidence-based school mental health practices throughout Florida and the US. Ongoing projects at the SMHC Center involve national and state agencies with focused research and partnerships in the following areas: positive psychology interventions, suicide prevention, school threat and violence reduction, mental health and resilience assessment, and training the next generation of school mental health leaders.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The School Mental Health Collaborative (SMHC) has a need for additional administrative capacity to support the management of multiple grant-funded and state-funded projects, and contracts with community agencies, management of human resources, and general operational management. Most recently, the SMHC has taken on two large projects with the Florida Department of Education, raising the total number of active projects and contracts beyond what center staff are currently capable of managing efficiently and effectively. This position would exist to support the SMHC in the execution of several active projects as well as provide support for general administrative activities such as purchasing and hiring.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires effective communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent organizational skills. It also requires knowledge of USF systems and the ability to interface with university faculty and staff at several levels.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute to the administration of various SMHC projects that require administrative responsibilities (e.g., FDoE Resilience Coaching contract) such as processing payments, enrolling participants.
Facilitate SMHC financial matters including purchasing, invoicing, travel, grant post-award support, payroll, and reporting.
Manage SMHC human resources, facilitate hiring, center staff and employee evaluations.
Communicate with SMHC co-executive directors, center director, and other center staff regularly to ensure timely completion of required duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least four years of experience in an office or administrative support position. Appropriate college coursework or vocational technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
PREFERRED:
Preference for employees with a bachelor's degree or higher and experience in an administrative role with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Experience with payment processing within a university setting is also preferred.
