Pediatric Gastroenterology Associate Professor - Clinical Opportunity


Cincinnati Children's Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition invites qualified candidates to apply for a clinical Associate Professor position. This role will support the anticipated growth in Intestinal Rehabilitation and advanced Nutrition programs, with 40% dedicated to research.



PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide safe and effective patient care. Actively participates in the training and educating of residents, fellows, and other trainees. Makes significant contributions to clinical service. Demonstrates a commitment to clinical scholarship through participation in clinical research and publication. Contributes to the service/administrative activities of the Department/Division.



REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES




Patient Care



Provide safe, effective, and compassionate patient care that aligns with your level of advancement and clinical specialty. Make significant contributions to clinical services by demonstrating expertise in patient care. Aim for local and regional recognition as an authority in your field, both from peers and patients.


Build a strong local and regional referral network for subspecialties and develop distinctive clinical skills or programs in your area. Utilize clinically sound and effective practices to achieve exceptional patient outcomes. Offer consultative services to other physicians and clinical providers within the medical center providers and integrate innovative approaches in your specialty. Make informed decisions on patient care, including assessments, diagnoses, and care plans, while continuously monitoring therapeutic management to ensure positive outcomes.



Teaching and Training



Take a pivotal role in major teaching or clinical training programs. Supervise the patient care of assigned residents and fellows, teaching and monitoring the medical care to ensure it is safe and effective. Your contributions may include recognition as an excellent teacher, role model, and mentor, and assuming a leadership role in educational programs. Participate in local and regional educational opportunities, lead the development of curricular offerings and teaching materials, and engage in curriculum committees or other education-related groups. Serve as a mentor to students and trainees, and function as a consultant to fellow faculty and community physicians. Stay current in your field through continuing education, literature, and seminars.



Service and Administration



Engage in program development for service and administration through contributions such as creating unique patient care or educational programs, holding a significant role in academic divisions, or consulting on specific program developments. Actively participate in performance improvement programs or on divisional, departmental, or medical staff committees (e.g., RPT, IRB) and contribute to local or regional clinical affairs by joining clinical societies or specialty governing boards. Provide faculty coverage as needed within the department and assist in developing departmental policies, procedures, and standards. Foster interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships while encouraging teamwork. Aid in the formulation and implementation of long- and short-term goals and objectives that are suitable for the division. Complete evaluations for students, residents, and peers.



Scholarly Activity



Participate in scholarly activities, such as publishing clinical investigations, observations, reviews, chapters, or books, and partake in clinical trials or investigations. Utilize advanced training in research methods to design and conduct clinical research in your specialty area. Develop research programs and demonstrate effectiveness in securing grant funding for research initiatives. Assist in the growth of new externally funded research programs and publish or co-author findings and conclusions in a timely manner. Present your findings internally and contribute to the design and implementation of programs that evaluate treatment efficacy. Recommend improvements, perform new processes, collect, and measure data, and develop processes based on performance while effectively communicating results.



QUALIFICATIONS




Required:



•M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree


•Current active medical license issued by the State of Ohio or eligible for license


•Appropriate medical credentialing through the Medical Staff Services offices


•Completion of all required pre-employment activities


•Associate Professor appointment or eligibility required


•Generally, requires a minimum of five years of service at the Assistant Professor rank
