Job Description:

Tactica Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced and qualified Environmental Technical Writer/Editor for a Systems Engineering & Technical Assistance (SETA) contract supporting the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Engineer (DCSENG) for facilities engineering & sustainment and environmental planning & compliance on Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Primary role will be responsible for reviewing, editing and formatting complex technical documents to ensure clarity, consistency and accuracy. This role will collaborate with project teams including management, project leads and SMEs to understand the nuances of environmental requirements, ensuring accurate representation in deliverables.



Duties and Responsibilities


  • Edit and Proofread: Ensure accuracy, grammatical precision, and consistency in complex technical documents.
  • Formatting and Style: Apply industry-standard formatting, ensuring adherence to company style guides.
  • Manage Editorial Processes: Oversee document reviews, quality checks, and technical content accuracy.
  • Document Design: Create and format essential elements such as tables of contents, lists, and references.
  • Content Presentation: Design page layouts that are visually appealing, focusing on clarity, readability, and style.
  • File Management: Maintain an organized file management system for version control and document tracking. Work within SharePoint and be familiar with managing roles and permissions. Public Release Reviews with PAO for updating the public-facing USASMDC Environmental website.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with internal teams and stakeholders to meet deadlines and resolve queries.
  • Compliance: Ensure all documents comply with company and industry standards and regulations.
  • Project Support: Assist in resolving formatting issues in reports and communicate clearly with technical teams.
  • Establish, collaborate, and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Compensation Minimum: $100,000

Compensation Maximum: $120,000

Job Requirements:



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant Environmental Technical Writer/Editor experience, preferably within the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) community.
  • In-depth knowledge of technical publishing standards and familiarity with style guides, preferably Army writing references (Army Regulation 25-50 Preparing and Managing Correspondence).
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, technical staff, and project managers.
  • Proven organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Adobe Pro.
  • Strong formatting proficiency in MS Word styles (e.g., tables, headers, footers).
  • Familiarity with file management and version control systems (i.e. configuration management).
  • Experience with Adobe Suite (InDesign, FrameMaker) or similar publishing tools a plus.
  • Experience creating graphic and text overlays on maps and aerial photographs.
  • Experience creating professional looking infographics, flow/process charts, and PowerPoint presentations.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of U.S. Army rank and grade structure, and government civilian pay scale equivalencies, regulations, and other organizations specific to the USASMDC.
  • Active security clearance with current investigation, a plus.

Physical Requirements: Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weight up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary.
