BASIC FUNCTION:
This full-time position supports Claremont McKenna College's Advancement Office in the engagement of key volunteers and leaders from the alumni and parent communities. The Director will help organize engagement opportunities and will promote the importance of contributing time, talent, treasure, and ties with external constituencies. The Director aims to align all volunteer and leadership opportunities within the broad scope of strategic priorities in the Advancement Office.
The Director will primarily focus on the eleven research institutes and centers, managing the vetting and recruitment of new candidates for Board membership, organizing annual solicitations for the respective Boards of Advisors, stewarding and cultivating Board members, and collaborating on special fundraising projects with Advancement colleagues, faculty directors, and academic leadership. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Philanthropy and Strategic Initiatives and will work together with the other members of the Advancement team to provide a comprehensive support strategy to the research institutes.
The Director will also be responsible for creating and executing a strategic vision for a broader set of volunteer opportunities, emanating from various CMC departments, under one strategic vision. The Director will partner with various stakeholders to outline a mission and purpose for each volunteer role and will help model a management plan to ensure a successful volunteer experience. The Director will be immersed with key volunteer efforts in Advancement, including the Claremont McKenna College Alumni Association, the Parent Network Board, fundraising volunteers, reunion committees, etc. They will further seek to engage with institutional partners for collaboration on efforts like Admission alumni interviewers, mentorship programs, internship providers, etc.
While the Director of Advancement will report to the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Philanthropy and Strategic Initiatives, they will also work closely with the Associate Vice President of Advancement on strategies related to the broad scope of engagement opportunities. This position will oversee the Coordinator for Institute Advancement and Office of the Vice President for Advancement.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS & SKILLS:
EDUCATION: B.A. or B.S. degree required. Persuasive development writing and strong analytical organizational skills required. Finalists may be asked to write and submit a typical assignment during the interview process.
EXPERIENCE: Three to five years of leadership experience with excellent project management skills. Related experiences will be considered. Knowledge of selective higher education development activities is preferred.
LICENSES: A valid driver's license is required.

OTHER:
REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend and evening work may at times be expected. Travel may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or department. This is a 12-month position.

SALARY RANGE:
The anticipated salary range is $95,000 - $100,000 per year. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
