Job Description:

Our Product Owners work with the technology delivery teams to further the objectives of a product line or business unit capability. Product Owners increase the effectiveness and functionality of existing products and develop new products for the organization.


In this role, you will develop and lead a product vision across a suite of products and manage the product backlog for software delivery teams. We ask that you mentor, coach and develop other product managers in the organization, modeling ideal behavior and leading accountability and standard methodologies. Collaborate with business partners and the IT team to define and communicate the product roadmap and lead sprint planning meetings and explain feature/story priorities and requirements to the Agile team. In addition, you will define sprint/iteration objectives; maintain planning around multiple horizon planning timelines (iteration/quarterly/annually); prepare the product backlog for the upcoming iterations/sprints; work with business partners and EPMO to prioritize the product backlog to enhance return on investment; write well-defined user stories, user cases and acceptance criteria; drive preparation for Big Room quarterly planning; and prepare for spring review and demo.



Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science or other relevant subject area or equivalent combination of education and work experience (Two years' work experience is equivalent to one year of college)



Required Experience: 2-5/+ years' product management, product owner, business system analyst, agile specialist, or relevant experience

Knowledge of:



  • Widely used software development and project frameworks including Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and iterative processes


  • Thorough understanding of Software Development Lifecycle


  • Product management techniques


  • Team facilitation, requirement gathering and requirement documentation


  • Backlog management and prioritization techniques


  • Product road mapping, planning, lifecycle management, and product backlog development



Skills:



  • Lead high-level requirements and vision through final delivery of working product


  • Lead high-level vision and roadmaps and clearly articulate that vision to partner audiences across the enterprise


  • Excellent verbal and written communication to facilitate group discussions to desirable outcomes


  • Analytical, strong critical thinking skills



Ability to:



  • Drive working product to completion and elevate the output of the teams


  • Rapidly absorb domain expertise


  • Facilitate multiple product lines of related products and teams concurrently


  • Look across delivery channels and forecast trends, issues, and create empirical measures for demonstrating value delivery


  • Prioritize multiple sources of demand into a single vision and source of work for teams


  • Applies effective listening, questioning and information gathering techniques


  • Actively identifies areas of confusion and work to bring clarity of business requirements


  • Use "enterprise thinking" to guide decisions (enterprise hat)





We'd also love to see:



  • Certification in Agile / Scrum Frameworks, Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)


  • Understanding of data systems, relational databases, transaction types


  • Familiarity with quality, regulatory industry practices, and insurance products/industry


  • Experience (and/or interest in) working on team for external-facing portal(s)
