The modelling team within Arm Central Engineering Software division enables internal and external customers to build and validate software on Arm IP-based systems for various domains (e.g., IoT, Client, Infrastructure). We are seeking System-on-Chip/IP modelling engineers to build highly efficient software models representing the functional aspects of SoC down to a micro-architectural level, including many of Arm's innovative technologies. These system models, otherwise known as virtual platforms, provide a full-system environment that emulates hardware components alongside sophisticated software stacks (e.g., Linux, Android). Virtual platforms enable early software development for internal and external users, faster execution, and many debugging tasks such as inspecting memory bus transactions.
We are also looking for more junior grades within the team.
Responsibilities:
Members of the modelling team take hardware designs and specifications to build functional representations in software of an entire hardware platform and individual hardware components.
Develop, test, and maintain high-speed models for Arm's system level IP.
Interact with hardware engineers across Arm to understand their IP and model it accurately.
Build Virtual Platforms that can be used for early software development.
Collaborate with CE-SW engineers to help them integrate their software on your platform and to diagnose problems.
Give feedback on SoC designs based on experience you'll develop in the modelling team.
Required Skills and Experience :
Good understanding and ability to develop in C/C++.
Good understanding of the internals of computers and SoCs.
Proficiency in developing software, including coding, testing, and debugging.
Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and spoken English
"Nice To Have" Skills and Experience :
Experience with programmer view modelling or instruction-level simulators (e.g., QEMU, Simics, Gem5, Virtualizer), knowledge of Arm IP, or Arm architecture.
Experience in developing SoC virtual prototype using C/C++/SystemC/TLM.Deep understanding of system-level architecture and integration (e.g., SMMU, cache hierarchy, interrupt controller).
Experience with low-level or bare-metal software, firmware or device-driver development is an advantage.
We value experience working on sophisticated software projects in collaboration with a large multi-site team.
