This is a newly created executive level opportunity. Manage and administer UNFCU's credit risk by establishing an effective framework, setting risk tolerances, and overseeing and monitoring the consumer lending portfolio and the external environment. The AVP Consumer Credit Risk demonstrates passion for leveraging data and analytics to fuel growth and improve our members' financial well-being. They also ensure that the credit risk function complies with all applicable rules, regulations, and statutory requirements. Administer and monitor UNFCU's modeling and decisioning tools to ensure they operate within agreed upon lending guidelines.

Develop and maintain a comprehensive credit risk program for UNFCU's consumer lending origination.
Design strategies to support Consumer Lending's mandates for controlled loan growth, while serving members' needs and mitigating credit risk. This includes diversifying the portfolio, establishing appropriate credit limits, and setting risk tolerance, lending guidelines, and auto-decisioning parameters.
Quantify impacts of proposed guideline changes in terms of potential losses, decline rates, and interest income.
Develop credit risk policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Monitor the organization's consumer organic and acquired loan portfolio, assessing the risk profile by quantifying the impact of various attributes such as employment type, credit score, prior loan performance, length of membership, etc. Make recommendations for adjustments as needed to enhance loan growth within risk tolerance. Perform cost benefit analysis and make recommendations for altering risk tolerance.
Provide subject matter expertise to senior management regarding loss rate analysis, modeling, and credit score validation.
Work closely with other departments, such as Lending, Enterprise Risk Management, Finance, and Office of General Counsel to ensure an integrated approach to supporting member needs and loan growth, while managing Consumer Loan credit risk throughout the organization.
Maintain a good understanding of the United Nations organizational structure, contract types, employment separation risk, and country-specific risks.
What we're seeking
Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years of related experience with a financial institution in a credit risk management function
Strong understanding of lending processes for different consumer lending products including as it relates to, but not limited to credit risk, loss rates, interest income, and profitability
Ability to dive into unstructured data and produce actionable insights
Experience building credit models and decision trees
Excellent analytical skills
Strong communication skills
Demonstrate skills using technology to derive insights, perform analysis, and validation

Advanced studies in statistical analysis, computer science, information technology, or risk management preferred
Ability to use prior credit experience and translate the skills previously acquired to UNFCU's unique program, member, and data elements
