ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The mission of the Office of University Community Partnerships is to support the continuation of USF's rise in national and global visibility and strengthen our regional, national, and global communities; to promote lifelong learning; and strengthen Florida's goal of being a Top-10 global economy by 2030 via mutually beneficial partnerships with our communities, public service organizations, business, and industry.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Outreach will lead the strategic planning and execution of community outreach initiatives to enhance the university's partnerships with local, regional, and global communities. This role requires a dynamic leader who is passionate about fostering mutually beneficial relationships between the university and its diverse community partners. The Director will play a critical role in promoting the university's mission, values, and goals through effective outreach and collaboration. This role reports to an Assistant Vice President for University Community Partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of outreach programs and initiatives. Conduct needs assessments to identify opportunities for new partnerships and initiatives. Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to support community based learning, research, and service projects. Ensure that outreach activities are inclusive, equitable, and reflective of the diverse communities the university serves. Manage the outreach budget, including grant writing and fundraising efforts to support community engagement projects. Serve as a liaison between university and community partners, fostering strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive outreach strategy aligned with the university's strategic goals and community engagement objectives. Assist with identifying, cultivating, and sustaining partnerships with local non-profit organizations, non government agencies, and local schools. Lead the planning and execution of community outreach programming, workshops, events, and activities.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to promote outreach activities and successes to internal and external audiences. Advocate for the importance of community engagement within the university and the broader community serving as a liaison to ensure mutual benefits from partnerships. Assist with representing the university at community events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Establish metrics to assess the impact and effectiveness of outreach initiatives. Prepare regular reports on outreach activities, outcomes, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership. Stay current with trends and best practices in community engagement and outreach.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree and minimum of seven (7) years related experience. A minimum of three (3) years managerial experience.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in Public Administration, Education, Social Work, Communications, or a related field. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in community outreach, partnership development, or a related area, preferably in a higher education setting.

SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:

Proven leadership and management experience, with a track record of successfully developing and leading community outreach initiatives. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Strong understanding of the needs and dynamics of diverse communities. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. High level of organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
