GHD has an opportunity for a Technical Director to join our growing EHS Compliance Business Group. If you are a self-motivated professional with excellent technical skills, federal/state/local EHS regulatory and H&S standard knowledge, team building skills, and existing relationships with clients, prospects, and regulators then this is a great opportunity to explore!


Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Collaboration with other Team Leaders, Regional Environment Market Leaders, Service Line Leaders, and Business Group Leaders to grow the EHS compliance business in the Midwest Region
  • Development and execution of business strategies and initiatives to expand EHS compliance services to new clients ensuring business growth
  • Identify, develop, and execute strategies to capture new business with major clients including business development, strategic initiatives, and sales development
  • Build and mentor a team that is engaged and driven to provide high-quality results and solutions to our clients' projects and challenges
  • Maintain a high external profile through membership/attendance in industry organizations, continually growing contact base
  • Maintain high internal profile through EHS project pursuits, wins, and delivery
  • Cross-collaboration across GHD's Business Groups and Service Lines to promote seamless client delivery
  • Lead proposal development and contract negotiation to win targeted pursuits, which leverage GHD's capabilities and value proposition
  • Technical project management and direction while maintaining client satisfaction and ensuring projects are delivered safely and within scope, schedule, and budget

For success in this position, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:



Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience in managing and delivering multi-media compliance projects and deep understanding of industry standards
  • We are seeking leaders with experience in developing efficient technical and regulatory strategies and solutions that address our clients' specific challenges and needs
  • Your experience of providing technical recommendations for programs and portfolios as well as writing and crafting proposals for projects
  • Development of efficient technical and regulatory strategies and solutions that address our clients' specific compliance need and challenges
  • Proven experience developing successful proposals for EHS compliance projects
  • If you have a background in air compliance and permitting requirements, this could be a career enhancing move
  • Flexible in your approach to EHS compliance challenges and have a strong ability to think laterally in delivering technical solutions
  • Vast knowledge of EHS rules and regulations impacting the industry

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's and/or Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Health & Safety or relevant field of study
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in EHS compliance
  • Ability to travel for short durations which will include overnight travel
  • Experience building and leading a high-functioning EHS compliance team
  • Solid understanding of U.S. EPA regulations and OSHA standards/regulations affecting industry
  • Experience with EHS auditing, various EHS compliance assessments, environmental permitting and compliance, environmental plan development and implementation (e.g., SPCC, SWPPP, RMP), and H&S written program development and implementation (e.g., PPE, LOTO, confined space, etc.)
  • Ability to provide leadership in establishing and sustaining a safe workplace by effective interaction with internal staff and external clients
