About the position
The Services Project Manager (PM) is responsible for projects of varying sizes and complexities from start to finish, including proposals, bids, project design, quality control, job scheduling, problem resolution, job completion, coordination, communication, client satisfaction activities and other related duties, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations. This position assists or manages job estimating, project budgets, projections and contracts, job solicitation and project negotiations, and may also be responsible for training, mentoring, and providing work direction to other project team members.
Day in the life
• Directs all phases and activities of each project to achieve high quality and productivity in the work performed. This includes project plans, quotations, bidding, budgeting, monitoring projections, equipment, scheduling testing procedures and establishing goals and standards of performance. Ensures all plans and specifications clearly and accurately identify project scope and milestones and are shared professionally with all appropriate parties. Ensures all jobs or contracts are fulfilled to the customer's satisfaction and the Company earns a fair profit.
• Prepares and manages timely and accurate project documents and status reports, estimates, projections, material release schedules, client information, project schedules, purchase orders, monthly invoices, payments, closeout documents, warranties, drawings, maintenance manuals, final billings, change orders, cost codes and other documentation to support construction project work. Maintains and manages submittal logs. Provides staffing and account management support, customer service and new business development as needed.
• Documents methods of procedure (MOPs), and ensures all field personnel have the current materials, tools, plans, schedules, and directions needed for their work, and that all changes in budget and scope of work are communicated appropriately, and/or all design staff have what they need for their work including data, submittals, etc. Establishes clearly defined duties and objectives to achieve required test results.
• Secures subcontractors utilizing standard subcontract agreements binding them to terms like Company contract requirements, thereby assigning the appropriate risk. Obtains permits as needed. Procures materials in a proactive and coordinated manner, negotiates with vendors and distributors on availability and pricing of materials, completion of quotes and other necessary procedure details. Ensures all plans and documents are maintained in the appropriate systems.
• Conducts job start up meetings with field operations leaders and others to transfer documentation, schedules, and other information. Regularly attends project update meetings to stay current on job scope, schedules, administrative needs, and market conditions. Provides day-to-day direction to project foreman or superintendent, and/or design staff as needed to monitor productivity goals and build teamwork.
• Partners with project foreman and all project team members to conduct jobsite inspections and job safety audits and assure accurate scope, placement and conformance with the contract documents and the Company's project quality assurance and safety standards. Stays informed of new electrical and safety codes, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices. Ensures all safety programs and OSHA requirements are followed.
• For Project Manager-BIM or Design roles, this position may provide oversight on all phases of BIM and/or building design and construction.
• For Project Manager-Line roles, this position may assist outside line construction projects including utility and industrial overhead/underground line distribution and substation/switchyard construction projects.
• For Project Manager-Civil roles, this position may assist civil construction projects including trenching, excavating, directional drilling, underground fiber, specialized bus duct excavation, signs, communications systems, traffic, and street lighting.
• For Project Manager-Technologies roles, this position may assist technologies construction projects including but not limited to all types of low voltage systems such as voice/data, video and security systems, audio visual, nurse call, distributed antenna systems and fire alarm systems.
• Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
• Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
• Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
BS in Construction Management or equivalent in job experience, Civil or Utility experience a plus.
Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
Outstanding interpersonal and team leadership skills.
Strong attention to detail and ensures maximum quality of work throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Comfortable managing multiple projects at one time.
Knowledge of general sitework and utility installation standard practices particularly as they apply to excavation and concrete construction.
Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid Software or other Civil Estimating Software a plus.
Experience with Bluebeam Revu a plus.
Travel
Occasional travel required.
Salary Range
$130,000 - 155,000 annual base salary annually based on experience and qualifications, plus benefits, car allowance and discretionary bonus.
