Project Manager
A. Harold and Associates, LLC (AHA) is seeking a qualified candidate for a position as a Project Manager to support the U.S. Navy Submarine Learning Center. The AHA Project Manager is the primary liaison with the customer on a daily basis and is charged with successfully completing the project on schedule, within budget, within scope, while producing a high-quality product or service that satisfies customer expectations with the resources provided. To accomplish these demanding responsibilities, the Project Manager is given a great deal of authority and responsibility and is held accountable. The Project Manager reports directly to the Assistant Vice President and works with the COO on contractual, other higher level project issues, and general operation projects. This is a full-time position located in Groton, Connecticut. A current Secret Security Clearance is required. Specific Duties/Job Requirements:
The focus of the Project Manager is successful completion of the project assigned. Specific functions include, but may not be limited to the following:
Lead and manage the project team:
Supervise team member daily activities to ensure they are in direct interest of the project
Identify training deficiencies and requirements of staff personnel to ensure they can meet their job duties on the assigned project
Supervise Associates and provide, when necessary:
Evaluations
PAM recommendations
Interviewing and hiring
Counseling with HR
Reassignment and termination
Plan, maintain, allocate, and align project resources in order to attain project requirements
Analyze and resolve work problems or assist team members in solving work problems
Manage the project schedule:
Schedule work and resources to achieve project goals in a timely fashion
Identify schedule variances and make corrections as required
Manage the project budget:
Plan, monitor, and administer project budget by allocating resource hours to achieve project goals
Identify cost variances and make corrections as required
Advise AVP, in advance, in all matters affecting variances to budget
Manage the project scope:
Manage the project customer expectations
Manage the project quality control/quality assurance:
Establish repetitive, repeatable successful processes within the project
Utilize checklists to ensure consistent project practices
Establish and maintain project performance metrics in order to ensure attainment of project goals
When necessary, implement timely corrective actions
Practice “Continual Process Improvement”
Manage project communications:
Ensure that every member of team understands their responsibility to treat all customers with the utmost professionalism and respect
Interpret company policies for team members and enforce regulations
Complete associated project reports (external and internal), on time
Participate in company PM meeting and corporate functions
Articulate and champion AHA corporate strategy so all AHA personnel recognize company goals
Other tasks as assigned by AVP and/or COO
Travel as needed to support project
Required Experience:
B.S. / B.A Degree in a technical or managerial discipline
Prior tour as a Submarine Training Officer or Submarine Learning Center Instructor strongly desired
5 years of professional experience in program management
Understanding of and ability to apply adult learning theory principles to courseware design
Problem solving skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to facilitate team and client meetings effectively
Strong interpersonal skills
