Job Description Summary



This position is responsible for performing maintenance functions throughout the plant as assigned or directed by supervisory personnel while working under limited supervision.



Job Description



  • Perform various testing (ultrasonic, vibration, IR and recording of data on rotating equipment and other associated equipment and systems.





  • Troubleshoot machinery problems using predictive maintenance technology: Vibration, Ultrasound, Infrared Thermography, including data collection and analysis.





  • Monitor and maintain online vibration monitoring systems and assist with initial specification and commissioning.

  • Maintain Equipment Asset Health database, compile and issue exception reports as needed.

  • Support maintenance and production personnel in the determination of condition monitoring and reliability practices most effective for all machinery.

  • Work with operations and maintenance to set priorities.

  • Assist operations and maintenance with troubleshooting problems, participate in and/or lead RCAs/BDAs as needed.

  • Reliability project work as assigned by supervisor.

  • Communicate any project and tasks progress to leadership.

  • Attend daily/weekly planning, downtime or other meetings as needed.

  • Support troubleshooting equipment failures and offer solutions to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Inspect bearings, motors, couplings, pumps, fans, and supporting equipment, service as required, and reporting irregularities to production department for the initiation of corrective work requests.

  • Must develop condition monitoring routes and operator routes, and maintain any changes, manage route updates as needed and assist with developing Lubrication routes.

  • Follow up on work completed by maintenance team members.

  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures.

  • Ability to work in a flexible environment.

  • Performs general housekeeping duties and other duties as assigned by supervision.

  • Basic math, writing skills, problem solving.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Become proficient with predictive maintenance software (ultrasound/vibration analysis/SAP).

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Experience with a CMMS (computerized maintenance management systems).

  • Troubleshoots all relevant equipment independently.

  • Assists in developing SOPs and PM's, and may assist in planning non-destruct test methods and participates in the P-F curve analysis and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).

  • Provides on-the-job training and guidance to other Facilities Reliability Technicians.




Basic & Preferred Qualifications




Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)


  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.




Skills and Experience:



  • 3-5 years expereince in welding and fabrication.

  • Must have machinist experience in lathe or smilar machinery.

  • 3-5 years in vinration technology.

  • 1-2 years' experience in a food-processing environment is highly preferred.

  • Trained and certified to operate man lifts, lift trucks, and company vehicles.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Able to do shift work, overtime, Sundays, and holidays as required.

  • Possess leadership skills.

  • Ability to work safely.

  • Must keep current with industry advancement in lubrication by continuing education and furthering developing skills.

  • Must complete and maintain

  • Ultrasound level 1

  • Lube tech level 1

  • Have a strong fundamental understanding of mechanical, hydraulic and circulating systems operation, and contamination control and maintenance functions.




Physical Environment/Demands:





  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.

  • Exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments to include loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and allergies.

  • Occasionally works in narrow passageways, confined spaces, and at protected heights.

  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.

  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.

  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work related equipment

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Freezer Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Plant Operation.

  • Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis.
