TheDirector of Simulation Education and Technology (The Director) is responsiblefor the organization, performance, promotion, and support of effective skillsand simulation lab(s) experiences for all students, faculty, and the health sciencecommunity, along with initiatives supporting workforce development. TheDirector will supervise day and evening MCCC and AFSCME employees within thearea of Simulation and contribute to the Strategic Planning initiatives of theCollege. The Director will oversee and provide education and technical supportfor the day-to-day operations, as well as debriefing, and troubleshootingsimulation equipment, computers, audio-visual components, web-based programs,and any other necessary components/equipment of the Simulation Center. The Director will work collaboratively with other members of the Division ofHealth Sciences and other departments within the College. The Directorwill oversee and contribute to the improvement and development of all programsrequiring skills and simulation education. This position will actively promoteMBCC’s commitment to the use of educational technology, simulation, anddebriefing to provide an optimal learning experience to the students of HealthSciences and other Divisions within the College. The Director will developfee-based programs that provide training and upskilling opportunities for theprofessional community to use our simulation facilities.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programming;
- Evaluate existing educational programs as well as design, develop, implement, and evaluate new educational initiatives and course curricula (including goals, objectives, content materials, and assessment tools) in collaboration with content experts;
- Integrate needs assessment data into simulation activities.Defining goals creates measurable learning objective and outcomes;
- Promote excellence in teaching through respectful behavior, role modeling, and serving as a simulation mentor to faculty and staff;
- Serve as Simulation Education Faculty/Staff in team training, faculty/program development, and other programs at MBCC, serving as a faculty facilitator and debriefing content expert using simulation technology;
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of simulation staff;
- Evaluate simulation staff;
- Oversee and coordinate skills labs and simulation laboratory activities.This includes but is not limited to:
-Performance of scenarios (prep to clean-up);
-Scheduling;
-Equipment purchasing and maintenance;
-Inventory of supplies;
-Management of par stocking system, managing preventative maintenance.
- Management of financials for the Simulation Center budget including full access to run budget status reports, manage balances, add a vendor through the purchasing department, put on Pos, and pay invoices;
- Maintain professional growth and development through educational/developmental activities and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise.Demonstrate continuous use of best practices;
- Track usage of the SIM lab(s) and other simulation equipment to identify effective use, and the educational impact, as well as current and future funding needs;
- Oversee and perform, as needed, intermediate/advanced troubleshooting procedures to resolve technical issues related to simulation equipment, as well as associated audio/visual and computer components;
- In partnership with content expert faculty/staff, provide the debriefing and technical assistance necessary to prepare and practice scenarios with students;
- Collaborate with faculty to arrange schedules for maximum student access to the skills simulation labs for all Health Sciences, Human Services, and Early Childhood
- Development departments both in the day and evening programs.This includes, but is not limited to arranging schedules for teaching, open and remediation labs;
- Maintain a safe and professional learning environment in the Simulation Center for faculty and students;
- Manage physical, emotional, and physiological risks during simulations;
- Employ strategies to mitigate risk and outcomes;
- Promote simulation in healthcare education through collaboration with regional, national, and international users;
- Participate in public relations events;
- Actively seek out and obtain development of new markets for simulation use and community outreaches;
- Participate in professional service organizations as the Simulation Center Representative.Work as the Center’s leadership to provide short and long range comprehensive strategic and operational planning;
- Implement policies, procedures, guidelines, and practice standards consistent with the mission and educational objectives of the Simulation Center;
- Actively participate in external programs that include teaching, curriculum development, and educational/Simulation Center consultation;
- Promote and support the benefits and efficacy of simulation scenarios in meeting learning outcomes. Inclusive of, but not limited to, assisting faculty to develop and integrate patient simulation scenarios into the curricula consistent with the scope of practice for the respective healthcare professionals;
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory list of supplies and equipment in the Simulation Center;
- Maintain collaborative relationships with simulation Directors and Lab Managers within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts College and College/University systems;
- Work with regional employment boards and/or other agencies to provide simulation-based experiences in the College Community;
- Create awareness classes for faculty on skills labs, simulation labs, and equipment;
- Train faculty on all medical equipment functions such as, but not limited to the following:
-IV pumps,
-Telemetry monitors,
-Headwalls,
-Suctions,
-Glucometers, etc.
- Work with faculty/staff/administration to research and write grants for funding to support simulation activities;
- Oversee mini and the annual Disaster Day Drill to enhance multi-disciplinary team dynamics and management;
- Promote and analyze simulation activity evaluations;
- As requested, recommend curriculum modification and enhancements to further develop the simulation program and program curriculum to get the most out of simulation-infused learning;
- Serve as Chair of the Best Practices of Simulation Committee;
- Promote the (SPARCC) Simulation of Patient Assessment and Resuscitation through Communication Center via Simulation Center orientation, tours, and collaboration with MBCC marketing team;
- Maintain the accreditation of the SPARCC;
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Health Sciences or designee.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University;
- Certified simulation educator or comparable training, or certified within one year of being hired;
- Current certification/formal training in a healthcare specialy utilizing Simulation in training such as EMS or Nursing;
- Minimum 3 years of experience teaching in an academic environment;
- Minimum 5 years of applied clinical/healthcare experience.

Additional Information:
Salary Range: $95,000.00 - 105,000.00 Annual Salary
