The Director, Exploratory Technology is responsible for leading and directing efforts in identifying, developing, and integrating new technologies that align with SCIEX's mission to provide groundbreaking scientific solutions. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate on innovative projects that contribute to advancements in scientific instrumentation, with significant growth and learning prospects.



This position is part of the Product Development Management function and will be located in the US. Our team is dedicated to pioneering technology solutions that support and accelerate our mission to empower scientists and transform scientific research through practical, scalable, and innovative tools



In this role, you will have the opportunity to:




  • Lead the identification, assessment, and integration of new technologies aligned with SCIEX's strategic goals.




  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technology solutions meet scientific and operational needs.




  • Direct exploratory research projects to advance capabilities in mass spectrometry, capillary electrophoresis and hyphenated analytical instrumentation.




  • Evaluate emerging technology trends and guide the team in innovative design and development approaches.




  • Establish scientific collaborations with industrial research organizations, thought leaders both industrial and academic.




  • Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations to achieve key milestones.




  • Provide mentorship and leadership to junior scientists within the exploratory technology team.






The essential requirements of the job include:




  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related scientific field; PhD preferred.




  • 10+ years of experience in technology research and development within the life sciences industry.




  • Proven track record of successful leading a team of associates scientists with 7+ years of experience




  • Extensive knowledge in mass spectrometry, analytical chemistry, and/or exploratory analytical technologies.




  • Experience in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, including product management and R&D.




  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in experimental design and data analysis.




  • Ability to travel as required for collaboration, conferences, and stakeholder engagement (up to 20%).





It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:




  • Experience in developing or implementing AI/ML-driven solutions for scientific data analysis.




  • Background in innovation management or technology commercialization within a scientific or research environment.




  • Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry, capillary electrophoresis, software platforms and data integration tools.

The salary range OR the hourly range for this role is $145,000-$220,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.



This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
