Position Summary: Exempt position responsible for the growth and management of the transmission construction within Power Contracting. This is an Executive position that will manage the transmission supervision and ensure a productive workforce that supports all divisional, departmental, site and corporate goals. The Operations Vice President will focus on client development, as well as building and maintaining relationships, but will also oversee job estimation, account management, and financial performance. The Operations Vice President will manage Operations Manager(s), Area Manager(s) and Area Supervisor(s) in their area. The Operations Vice President will direct the work and provide guidance and assistance to subordinates and their respective teams assigned to assist him/her on lump sum, unit price, and hourly price contracts. This qualified individual will possess the skills to schedule and oversee various work groups and should possess the drive and ambition to grow this division and maintain/expand profitability of this unit within Power Contracting.
Essential Functions:
Client development and maintenance at the executive level within Power Contracting
Work closely with Operations Manager(s), Area Manager(s) and Area Supervisor(s) to ensure customer business objectives are met, including superior safety standards, proper allocation of crews, and emergency response needs.
Ensure field leadership has tools and resources needed to ensure proper oversight of crews, including safely performing new construction, maintenance or repair, and troubleshooting work.
All aspects of contract negotiation, bidding, estimating, change order identification, submittal and approval, administration, and establishing the means to execute the contract to include management of subcontractors and material procurement.
Effective change control and risk management processes.
Responsible for thorough estimates and proposals for site specific projects and master service agreements.
Accurate monthly financial reporting with adequate backup for management, internal and external accounting.
Effective financial controls to ensure profitability and expected cash flow on all projects and master service agreements.
Direct the work and provide technical assistance to subordinates assigned to assist him/her and craft employees working under lump sum, unit price, and hourly price contracts.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in construction management or related field.
A minimum 10 years’ experience in construction/project management – specifically related to transmission work.
Willing to work over-time or long hours during emergency conditions and/or when requested. Schedules can change frequently and with short notice.
50%+ travel required- will be working in multiple offices and within the field with our clientele.
Must follow Company safety rules and policies.
Must have knowledge of construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes and standards.
Ability to administer coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
Ability to develop and interpret a material list, bid packages, scope documents, schedules, and budgets required in work performance.
Proficient knowledge in all aspects of electrical distribution and transmission systems.
Knowledge of various types of construction contracts.
Ability to perform employee evaluations.
Must interview, hire, and terminate employees
Ability to interface with customers, engineers, inspectors, contractors, , vendors, and other parties connected with the various project(s).
Computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Project, and Excel preferred. P6 scheduling is a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
