Role Definition

As a System Structural Simulation Engineer you will solve challenging structure engineering problems involving products, systems, and components using advanced simulation techniques and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for delivering timely, high-quality simulation and analysis impacting products/processes and providing clear recommendations to stakeholders
  • Partner with design, manufacturing and test to robustly deliver new products and improve validation processes
  • Keep up-to-date on new technologies and drive continuous improvement to established techniques
Top Candidates Will have:
  • BS or MS with extensive structure simulation experience
  • Data analysis experience and familiarity with using tools such as Power BI, MATLAB, Snowflake
  • Wheeled product machines test or product application experience
  • Machine system integration or system design experience
  • Multi body dynamic simulation experience
  • Large structure fatigue experience
Degree Requirement
  • Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Agriculture

Technical Excellence:
  • Provides technical structural solutions to New Production Introduction (NPI) to ensure meeting design requirements
  • Provides technical structural solutions for Current Production Introduction ( CPI) to ensure quick resolution of issue related to current process improvement or field machine performance
Project Management:
  • Assists in detailed project plans including cost, schedule, and resource requirements.
  • Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project.
  • Produces standard project status reports.
Computer-Aided Design & Engineering:
  • Building Multibody dynamic simulation model using Dynasty / Adams
  • Building Finite Element simulation models using hyper mesh/ NX
  • Performing simulation model validation to physical testing
  • Performing durability and fracture mechanics analysis as required
Additional Information:
  • The primary location for this position is Decatur, IL
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available
  • Travel will be up to 5%

Summary Pay Range:
$108,360.00 - $162,480.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
