Overview:The Director of the Office of Student Accessibility will oversee the administration and coordination of accessibility services for Quinnipiac University including undergraduate and graduate programs. They will also lead efforts to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies, and advocate for a universally accessible campus environment; ensure that students disclosing disabilities are provided reasonable programmatic as well as physical access to all programs at Quinnipiac University as mandated by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and amendments to the ADA. The Director serves as the primary resource to educate, train, and guide all undergraduate/graduate University programs in understanding disability access, rights and responsibilities.About Quinnipiac:Quinnipiac University is a private, coeducational institution located 90 minutes north of New York City and two hours from Boston. Leadership and Management



  • Oversees accessibility services for Quinnipiac University including undergraduate, graduate and professional academic programs, as well as housing, dining plan, commencement, admissions events, student organizations, summer programming, transportation and other programming.

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Office of Student Accessibility, including staff supervision and program development.

  • Serves on campus committees and participates in appropriate departmental projects.

  • Develops and collaborates on plans to enhance student accessibility and inclusion, including universal design for learning.



Compliance



  • Monitor compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other relevant laws and regulations.

  • Oversee university processes and policies related to the provision of accessibility and accommodation services

  • Work to identify and remove barriers to the participation of students with disabilities in academic and campus life.

  • Collaborate with facilities management to ensure physical accessibility of campus buildings and grounds.

  • Assist with ongoing analysis of technical standards within graduate programs and clinical field work placements.



Student Support and Services



  • Develops, implements and coordinates disability services, policies, and resources for University programs as well as students and individuals with disabilities.

  • Continues to address the issue of elevating the visibility and priority of disability services in coordination with the OSA staff by using strategies including increasing outreach activities.

  • Provides guidance/assistance to campus departments in implementing accommodations.



Training and Education



  • Serves as a primary resource to educate, train, and guide all University programs in understanding disability access, rights and responsibilities.

  • Educates and advises Quinnipiac University faculty, administrators and staff about the issues, concerns, and appropriate accommodations for students and individuals with disabilities.

Education Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Special Education, Psychology, LCSW, or related field required

  • Additional advanced degree (doctorate or law degree preferred)

  • Experience may substitute for some of the above education requirements

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling

  • NaBita certification

  • In-depth knowledge of disability laws, regulations, and best practices in accessibility and accommodation.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to interpret psychological and educational evaluations required

  • Ability to think tactically and strategically

  • Ability to use creativity and innovation to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
