Are you passionate about enhancing the quality of life for residents in a healthcare setting? Norwood Towers Post Acute is seeking a dedicated Activities Director to plan, develop, and implement resident-centered activities that foster engagement and joy.
Key Responsibilities:
Activity Planning & Development: Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct resident-centered activities for the facility.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on current federal and state regulations and professional standards to ensure activities meet the needs of residents and the facility.
Communication & Collaboration: Facilitate effective communication among staff, residents, families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public.
Community Involvement: Participate in community planning that reflects the interests and needs of residents and families.
Survey Participation: Assist in facility surveys conducted by authorized government agencies and help develop plans of correction for any identified deficiencies.
Committee Involvement: Attend regular meetings, including General Staff, Department Head, Quality Improvement, and Safety Committee meetings.
Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee to develop and implement corrective action plans for quality deficiencies.
Discharge Planning: Participate in discharge planning, development of activity care plans, and resident assessments.
Transportation Coordination: Arrange transportation for residents for outings, appointments, and discharges.
Activity Scheduling: Create a monthly activity schedule that includes resident outings, group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents.
Encourage Participation: Promote self-initiated activities, including hobbies, crafts, and reading, and provide necessary materials, including Braille or audio books.
Documentation: Ensure all charted activity progress notes are informative and accurately reflect the services provided and residents' responses.
Supervisory Requirements:
Assist in the overall supervision and management of the activity staff.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; one year of experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
Certification: Activity Director certification is required.
Language Skills: Ability to read technical procedures and comprehend policy manuals; effective communication skills for presenting information and responding to inquiries.
Mathematical Skills: Proficient in applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
Physical Demands:
This role requires frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Candidates should be capable of climbing, balancing, kneeling, and have good vision acuity for various tasks.
Work Environment:
