Directs, plans, develops and implements the overall look and style of assigned projects by determining how best to represent a concept visually though photographs, art and design. Insures projects meet budget requirements and comply with marketing and brand guidelines. Executes creation of assets for print, digital, social media, web and other media as needed from conception to completion. Prepares specifications for vendor quotes and files for production. The Art Director for Advancement focus primarily on projects in these main areas: Advancement; Development; Annual Gifts; Donor Services; and Alumni. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
55% - Essential - Art Direction & Design: Designs projects for print, digital, social media, web and other media as needed using a variety of software applications. Creates a strong visual presentation that communicates the desired message and marketing efforts of the client, supports the goals of the University, and complies with brand guidelines. Coordinates with other UR staff to acquire needed assets: writing; illustrations; photography; and video. Directs and advises other designers, programmers, photographers, videographers on visual execution of concept.
30% - Essential - Production: Executes production task using a variety of hardware and software from conception to completion of an assigned project. Writes specifications for project production as needed. Prepares files for production and checks vendors pre-production proofs. Assembles motion graphic animations, digital assets and short form video for social media as needed. Prepares and tests digital assets for web use as needed to ensure files display properly and meet compliance and compatibility standards.
10% - Essential - Project Management: Monitors assigned projects through all phases of development and production and suggest changes or improvements as needed in order to adhere to time and budget constraints before final production. Document progress of assigned task in project management tracking systems.
5% - Essential - Pitching & Presenting: Interfaces with the client to present ideas and solutions, offer background and explanation of the concept and advise on possible executions. Takes client feedback.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education : Bachelor's Degree - graphic arts or art and work experience in graphic arts for print media publications.
