Pandrea’s lab is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with strong training in HIV/SIV pathogenesis. They will be expected to perform duties with a high degree of independence, initiative, and judgment. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work directly with Dr. Ivona Pandrea and will conduct innovative research in the field of HIV/SIV with a focus on mucosal immunology and metabolic abnormalities related to retroviral infections.
This research would build from previous work in the Pandrea lab that uses numerous nonhuman primate models of AIDS and diverse SIV strains to understand the role of gut dysfunction in disease progression and development of HIV/SIV-related comorbidities. The products of the postdoctoral fellow research will represent high-quality academic presentations and peer-reviewed publications authored by the postdoctoral fellow.
The postdoctoral fellow will play a significant intellectual, technical, and scientific role in our lab. She/ He will: 1) Help design and conduct experimental research work within the HIV/SIV pathogenesis field, 2) Maintain detailed documentation of the research experiments, 3) Develop new ideas that promote current research areas in our lab and lead new projects. 4) Present research at scientific meetings. 5) Prepare and publish scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. 6) Assist with the preparation of grant applications, 7) Be responsible for the operation of specific equipment. 8) Train and supervise research staff, undergraduate and graduate students, 9) Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: 1) Holds a PhD in Immunology, Pathology & Infectious Disease, 2) A record of published research, 3) Strong methodological background, 4) Well-developed communication skills both written and oral, 3) Self-motivated; able to work independently and under pressure, 4) Experience with HIV/SIV research, 5) Being a team player, 6) Able to have a Flexible schedule, 7) Demonstrated evidence of organizational skills and attention to detail, and 8) Effective writing skills.
