Job Description:

The Outside Sales Account Manager is responsible for managing activities in support of assigned customers within the industrial markets with a focus on valves, valve actuators, instrumentation and test equipment. This role includes new business acquisition, quoting, and day-to-day communications to ensure customer satisfaction and drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate would be someone who is self-directed and self-motivated with a proven track record in sales, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple customer accounts effectively.


Roles and responsibilities

· Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers.
  • Understand customer needs and provide tailored solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing concerns and providing timely support.

· Quoting and Proposals:

  • Prepare and deliver accurate and competitive quotes to customers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop detailed and customized proposals.
  • Follow up on quotes and proposals to secure orders.

· Day-to-Day Communications:

  • Manage daily communications with customers to ensure smooth operations and satisfaction.
  • Provide regular updates to customers on order status, delivery schedules, and any issues that may arise.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including production, logistics, and customer service, to resolve any customer-related issues.

· Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs.
  • Analyze market data to identify potential areas for growth and improvement.
  • Provide feedback to the Director of Business Development on market conditions and customer feedback.

· Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and account management efforts.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, customer satisfaction, and market insights.
  • Utilize CRM software to track and manage customer accounts and sales activities.

· Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work closely with the Director of Business Development to align sales strategies with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
  • Participate in sales meetings, training sessions, and other company events as required.


Education

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales, preferably within the commercial maritime and/or industrial markets.

Additional Skills

  • A working knowledge of Valves and Valve Actuators
  • A general knowledge Test Equipment, Sensors and Instrumentation
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and MS Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
  • Customer Focus: Deep understanding of customer needs and a commitment to meeting and exceeding their expectations.
  • Sales Acumen: Strong sales skills with the ability to identify opportunities, close deals, and achieve targets
  • Market Insight: Knowledge of the industrial markets, including industry trends and competitive landscape.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify challenges and develop effective solutions.

Additional requirements


  • Must have a valid driver's license as well as a good driving record
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screening
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to technical questions
  • Must have a valid U.S. passport
  • Able to work overtime when required
  • Ability to use desktop computer and peripherals

Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Exposure to variable weather conditions is likely.

Travel

  • Frequent local travel is required, often up to several hours of driving or flying per day.


Physical requirements

  • Prolonged sitting in car or office
  • Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes weighing up to 40lbs
  • Bending/squatting/kneeling/stooping/crouching/crawling/twisting up and walking up to 8-10 hours per day
  • Standing- Must be able to stand or sit in one place up to 8-10 hours per day
