We are seeking an experienced and versatile Senior Managing Consultant with expertise in government contracting accounting compliance to join our dynamic team at BOOST. This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on technical expertise in client-facing work, specifically within the government contracting sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting or finance, with a focus on government contracts, alongside the ability to manage a team, provide strategic direction, and directly engage with clients on complex, compliance-driven technical projects. Key Responsibilities:
Client Engagement & Technical Support (Government Contracting Focus):
Serve as the primary point of contact for key government contracting clients, providing specialized accounting services for compliance with government regulations.
Lead the preparation, review, and execution of financial reports, cost proposals, audits, and other deliverables to meet government contracting requirements.
Ensure adherence to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and other government-specific guidelines.
Troubleshoot and resolve client issues related to government contracting compliance, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
Work closely with clients to understand their business needs, offering tailored solutions for navigating government contract accounting and compliance challenges.
Team Leadership & People Management:
Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to a team of junior accountants, analysts, or client service professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Conduct regular employee performance reviews, providing constructive feedback, setting clear performance expectations, and identifying development opportunities.
Address performance issues promptly and implement disciplinary actions as needed, following company policies and procedures.
Provide ongoing coaching and professional development, ensuring team members enhance their expertise in government contracting accounting and compliance.
Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring team members have manageable workloads and are set up for success in meeting deadlines and client needs.
Foster a positive, team-oriented culture that encourages accountability, continuous learning, and a commitment to excellence.
Internal Quality Control & Client Deliverables:
Implement and maintain internal quality control processes to ensure that all client deliverables meet the highest standards of accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Review and approve client-facing work, ensuring that financial reports, cost proposals, audits, and other deliverables are compliant with government contracting regulations and firm policies.
Conduct regular checks on team work to ensure consistency, precision, and quality across all client deliverables.
Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and controls, ensuring continuous enhancement in the quality and timeliness of deliverables.
Ensure that all client projects are delivered with the highest level of accuracy and meet the expectations set with clients, while maintaining compliance with government standards.
Project Management:
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of government contracting projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives, compliance requirements, and firm standards.
Monitor project timelines, resources, and regulatory requirements to ensure successful delivery of services.
Identify opportunities for process improvements, implementing changes that enhance efficiency, compliance, and client satisfaction.
Strategic Planning & Reporting:
Work closely with senior management to align team activities with firm-wide goals and strategies, particularly in the government contracting space.
Provide regular progress updates and reports on government contracting client accounts, project status, compliance milestones, quality control metrics, and team performance.
Contribute to the development and implementation of operational strategies to improve service offerings, streamline compliance processes, and enhance internal capabilities.
Business Development & Client Retention:
Participate in business development activities, including identifying opportunities for cross-selling or upselling government contracting-related services.
Maintain strong relationships with government contracting clients to encourage repeat business, long-term partnerships, and referrals.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure that all government contracting client work complies with applicable regulations, including FAR, CAS, DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency) requirements, and other relevant compliance standards.
Identify and mitigate any risks related to government contracting compliance, project timelines, client satisfaction, and the quality of deliverables.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CGMA, or other relevant certifications preferred), or equivalent experience in a related field with at least 10 years of hands-on, practical experience in government contracting accounting and compliance.
At least 10 - 15 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a strong focus on government contracting accounting and compliance.
Proven experience in managing teams and leading projects within the government contracting sector.
In-depth knowledge of government contracting compliance requirements, including FAR, CAS, DCAA regulations, and other industry-specific standards.
Experience with cost proposal preparation, audits, and compliance reporting for government contracts.
Strong people management skills, with experience conducting performance reviews, providing feedback, and addressing performance challenges.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and compliance issues to non-experts and clients.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration within a team.
Proven ability to implement and oversee quality control processes, ensuring high standards for client deliverables.
Preferred Skills:
Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Unanet, Costpoint, or similar).
Familiarity with government contracting tools and platforms.
Experience in providing advisory services for government contractors on compliance-related issues.
Strong understanding of government procurement and contract management processes.
