Job Description:
Marine Logistics SME Twentynine Palms, CA The Marine Logistics Subject Matter Expert (SME) reports to and receives work direction derivatives from the MCLOG Project Manager. The Marine Logistics SME provides subject matter expertise and instruction, mentorship, coaching, guidance and subject matter expertise to MCLOG personnel and personnel participating in MCLOG training programs in the fundamentals, principles, techniques, processes and best practices associated with the execution of U.S. military logistics operations at the operational and tactical level of war. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides mentorship and subject matter expertise to Group, Regimental and Battalion commanders in the execution of U.S. military logistics operations during execution of MCLOG exercise/training events/wargames and exercises/training events/wargames in which MCLOG participates.
  • Provide over-the-shoulder training, instruction and mentorship to staff logisticians in tactics, techniques, procedures and best practices associated with U.S. military logistics operations at the operational and tactical level during execution of MCLOG exercise/training events/wargames and exercises/training events/wargames in which MCLOG participates.
  • Observe the actions and decision making of commanders of logistics organizations at the Group, Regimental and Battalion level during execution of MCLOG exercise/training events/wargames and exercises/training events/wargames in which MCLOG participates, analyze observations and synthesize all available inputs into formal and in formal after action reviews (AARs) that are presented to the training audience.
  • Use Joint exercise design knowledge, the Army's Planning Process/Military Decision Making process (MDMP), and Army Theater Sustainment Command concepts to provide a constructive training environment for exercises/training events/wargames to observe learning outcomes.
  • Provide recommendations to MCLOG to design future exercises to more effectively train commanders of logistics organizations and senior logistics staff officers.
  • Review relevant studies, briefs, and documents to identify gaps that should be considered for integration into the scenario and exercises.
  • Design and develop relevant adversary plans and background to support the scenario.
  • Assist MCLOG planners and action officers on training audience staff to develop briefs/orders/products, as required in support of expeditionary advanced base operations and full spectrum combat operations ashore.
  • Participate in debriefs and after-action reviews immediately following exercises MCLOG facilitated or participated in.
  • Submit key insights, lessons learned, and best practices and participate in the Trends Reversal Reinforcement Process via established formats and procedures following each exercise.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Completion of Marine Corps University career level school at the appropriate level or service equivalent is required.
  • The ideal candidate is a retired officer of O6 rank or higher with prior experience of command at the O6 level.
  • Experience writing MAGTF or joint operations orders at the MEB/brigade level or higher.

  • Familiarity with current trends, doctrine, and systems in use by the Marine Corps.

  • Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.
SECURITY CLEARANCE
  • A NATO Secret Clearance is required for this position.
ESTIMATED COMPENSATION
  • $75,000-$85,000
