Job Summary


The Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG) mission is to provide standardized advanced training and certification to Ground Combat Element (GCE) Operations Officers, Operations Chiefs, and select other GCE training specialists in GCE operations, combined arms planning and naval integration, and unit readiness planning at the company, battalion, and regiment levels to support GCE Training and Readiness (T&R) events.


The MAGTF/Naval Fires SME will provide multi-discipline expertise across all spectrums of USMC Naval Fires and Effects with a goal of naval integration into Marine Operations. Experienced in the shipboard warfare operations employment, and application of techniques, equipment, systems, and procedures related to surface operations and possess practical experience in Composite Warfare Commander (CWC) organization and functions. Candidate will be responsible to integrate both lethal and non-lethal effects into planning processes and applicable scenario events. In accordance with direction from the Exercise Control Lead and with the Exercise Design Team support scenario development, integrate all available fires capabilities, craft storylines and events which challenge the training unit or students, and assist in the creation of realistic adversary fires capabilities in the simulation.


Key Accountabilities

  • Institute, write, manage, and supervise the C2 Fires processes built into the exercise design mechanism.
  • Remain informed of combined and joint fires systems upgrades and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) changes; adjust exercise data and processes as required.
  • Provide proactive technical advice to the Exercise Control Team.
  • Develop geographically correct and reality-based threat network storylines, threads and injects to facilitate Naval and MAGTF integrated operations for inclusion into the Master Scenarios Events List (MSEL) during Mission Rehearsal Exercises.
  • Assist in exercise product development utilizing Fires C2 processes; develop and provide instruction for Naval and MAGTF integrated fires processes; perform as a C2 Fires response cell role ISO exercises.
  • Assist in providing an overview of the tactical scenario construct to staff personnel for development of supporting products, data repositories and configurations, and systems integration.
  • Participate in exercises as required.
  • Perform as a HICON and expert response cell role as MAGTF/Naval Fires SME ISO exercises for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Provide support for formal learning programs and Battle Staff Training simultaneously.
  • Contributes to exercise orders, OPGEN, OPTASK and CONOPs, development operations process.


Requirements:


  • Understand the CWC concept processes to support and operate against conventional and or asymmetric enemies.
  • Possess a tactical understanding of the Composite Warfare Commander (CWC) organization and functions; have practical experience in the CWC processes and procedures to effectively control forces and properly execute command by negation.
  • Experience in managing integrated and comprehensive Naval and USMC fire support systems in support of combat operations or full spectrum simulated military exercises.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Possess self-motivation and a high level of discretion to work effectively under a minimum level of supervision.
  • Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects and have a strong attention for detail.


Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant 15 years of experience with specialized training to include applying current procedures and doctrine to CWC operations as specified by Joint/Allied/U.S. Navy publications and instructions.
  • U.S. Navy / U.S. Marine Corps Officer, Limited Duty or Chief Warrant Officer or a Senior Enlisted (E7 or above) / SNCO experience with one or more deployments or contingency operations required.
  • Knowledge of Joint, Naval and USMC targeting processes desired.
  • Deployments with Destroyer Squadron or U.S Carrier based operations highly preferred.
  • Experience with operations centers, planning cells and operational planning teams desired.
  • Experience with CWC operations at the Destroyer (DDG), Cruiser (CG) and or Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) or Regiment, Division, MEF, and Joint levels highly preferred.
  • Experience with Interagency and other governmental entities preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience that displays the requisite skillset will be considered.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Garrison work environment including but not limited to:
  • occasional extended working hours will be required
  • occasional field/tactical environments
  • schedule: M-F 0700 to 1700


Travel

  • May be required to travel OCONUS to conduct installation, training or maintenance. Accordingly, a valid passport required.
  • Domestic travel may be required estimated to be up to 30% of the time for training and program coordination.
