GSPH-Behavioral & Community Health Sciences - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24009021)

The Center for LGBT Health Research within the School of Public Health at The University of Pittsburgh seeks a postdoctoral scholar with a Ph.D. in public health, social or behavioral sciences, or closely related fields to support a study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. The study is focused on improving the measurement and conceptualization of early life adversity in LGBTQ+ populations, specifically considering biosocial processes. The study includes three aims: First, collecting data using in-depth interviews to understand experiences of early life adversity at the intersection of sexual and gender identity. Second, utilizing co-design sessions (including human-centered design and liberating structures methods) with the project community advisory board to develop a new measure of early life adversity in SGM adults. Third, with collaborators as Standford University Pride Study, collect survey data on 1,700 LGBTQ+ adults to assess psychometric properties and measurement invariance of the revised measure and evaluate the relationship between exposure to LGBTQ-specific early life adversity exposure and immune function/inflammation in adulthood using blood-based immune biomarkers. Along with the work on the SGM-ACEs study, the postdoctoral scholar will be a part of the Center for LGBTQ Health Research and have the opportunity to develop and lead an independent research program.

It is expected that the Postdoctoral Associate will publish 2-3 papers a year, co-author with Center faculty, and attend regular mentorship/Center meetings. The candidate should possess the capability of leading data collection and analysis efforts with oversight from project leadership and senior staff. Requires working knowledge of qualitative analysis software (e.g., Nvivo, Dedoose). Experience and proficiency with qualitative data collection and analysis. Experience with developing and implementing study protocols. Experience with REDCap or other survey software. Experience with grant writing, training, and supervising others to conduct qualitative research.

Please apply through requisition #24009021 on join.pitt.edu.
