General Summary
GTI Energy, a leading research, development, and deployment organization serving energy markets, is seeking an experienced Program Director with industrial project development and commissioning experience to join us as we create innovative solutions for our customers and lead GTI Energy’s Advanced Power Cycle / sCO2 R&D Program. The position is centered around the execution of an existing Supercritical Transformational Power (STEP) project that has designed and is now building and testing a 10 MWe power plant pilot to demonstrate the performance and operability of supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) cycle-based power generation. This large ($170MM) project located in San Antonio, TX is being executed with the US DOE and in partnership with several industrial parties. Commissioning of the facility at simple cycle operating conditions (500 deg C) have now been successfully completed at work will progress to configure and test the system at full temperature, 700 deg C, recompression closed Brayton cycle conditions through 2026 and beyond.

Work Location
GTI Energy’s Corporate Headquarters is located in Des Plaines, IL. While local candidates are preferred and GTI Energy provides relocation assistance, the position is approved to be fully remote. There is an expectation of up to 50% domestic and international travel to provide in-person support at GTI Energy, partner and supplier locations, as well as at related conferences and events.
Primary Responsibilities
The Program Director will report to the Vice President, Carbon Management and Conversion, and will be responsible for creating programmatic vision, develop and secure support, and lead the execution of complementary R&D and Engineering projects to advance GTI Energy’s Advanced Power Cycles / sCO2 technologies in line with industry needs. In this regard, the incumbent will manage, perform, and lead efforts to bring new and improved products, processes, and procedures for the energy industry.
This position is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to schedule and budget and for interfacing with customers. This includes managing resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The candidate will help define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. The position is responsible for Advanced Power Cycles strategy development, developing goals and development needs, and coordinating with GTI Energy’s Business Development and Commercialization groups to identify, develop, and secure commercial and government funding opportunities to achieve the development needs and commercialize the developed technologies. The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $250,000 USD annually. This salary range is GTI Energy’s good faith estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, GTI Energy’s business or organizational needs and an individual’s relevant experience, education, qualifications, certifications, skills, seniority, geographic location, and/or performance. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus. The range listed is just one component of GTI Energy’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, paid time off, and region-specific benefits.
