We are looking to grow our team with the addition of a Design and Development Engineer to join our elite Advanced Integration Technologies group. In this role you will be responsible for developing and qualifying new processes and equipment used in the assembly of an electronic module with sustainability and profitability as a consideration. Responsibilities include specification and implementation of process control procedures, selection and introduction of new processes and equipment to improve production efficiencies and supporting manufacturing as well as company objectives. You will interact with internal and external customers regarding product design and development to ensure that processes and designs are compatible. You will develop manufacturing processes for new products and platforms, transitions products from development to manufacturing, creates validation plans and completes validation activities, identifies and improves manufacturing methods, and identifies and improves production yields.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work in a cross-functional team leading the development and implementation of software configurable mechanical systems technologies for both miniaturized products and electronics assembly technologies.
  • Use 3D CAD, simulation tools, and 3D prototyping to rapidly create innovative, cost effective and reliable mechanical designs for product platforms and software configurable manufacturing automation platforms.
  • Program new custom equipment and update/configure existing equipment machine programs. Beckhoff TwinCat programming experience is preferred, along with PLC hardware selection and configuration.
  • Develop specifications for new mechanical equipment, components, tooling, and automated assembly systems. These cover the spectrum of mechanical components, mechanical assembly tools and electrical test equipment.
  • Implementation tasks including leading stage-gate approvals, documentation, supplier quality interface, characterization, verification and on-going sustaining support in a highly automated manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • B.S. Mechanical or Materials Engineering or equivalent.
  • Five + years experience in electronics manufacturing (SMT preferred).
  • Experience with statistical methodologies (such as Design of Experiments) for problem solving and optimization.
  • Knowledge of materials used in electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience in automated equipment implementation and support.
  • Automated assembly equipment experience.
  • Machine programs experience.
  • Qualification procedures experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience creating and managing project plans.
  • Ability to develop and present proposals to peers and management.
  • Understanding of problem solving methodologies.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the company.
  • Strategic development skills.
  • Equipment and process roadmaps.
  • Ability to identify equipment / automation solutions.
  • Ability to contribute to manufacturing strategy.
  • Standard operating procedures experience.
