Would you like to join an innovative team creating technology to power ground-breaking insights in academic, clinical, pharma and biotech research?The Facilities Laboratory Associate Technician provides essential support for laboratory and facility operations, focusing on maintaining equipment, facilities, supply, and safety standards. This role collaborates across departments, including laboratory personnel and shipping/receiving, to ensure smooth and efficient laboratory and facility operations. This role is ideal for individuals eager to contribute to the efficient operation of laboratory facilities while ensuring safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform and coordinate weekly, monthly, and bi-annually maintenance and calibration of general-use equipment, including balances, pH meters, pipettes, DI water systems, refrigerators, and freezers.
Manage, schedule, track, and communicate equipment maintenance, calibrations, and repairs with internal stakeholders and service vendors.
Record maintenance and calibration records in spreadsheets and laboratory inventory management software.
Assist with troubleshooting and scheduling service calls for malfunctioning equipment.
Participate in the rotation of temperature monitoring for all laboratory refrigerators, freezers, incubators, and lab areas using environmental software. This will require response to alarms during business hours and occasionally after-hours response.
Identify and create purchase orders for the supply of common laboratory equipment parts and general laboratory needs.
Support the delivery of inert gas (nitrogen and argon) supply.
Collect, wash, and redistribute laboratory glassware.
Support the disposal coordination of radioactive, hazardous and biohazard waste, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Assist with the setup and teardown of laboratory workstations or other minor facility repairs/upgrades.
Adhere to and promote all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
A minimum of 1 year of laboratory or facilities support experience is preferred.
Skills and Experience:
Attention to detail and ability to follow protocols and standard procedures.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Proficiency in data entry and basic computer applications.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with laboratory safety best practices and waste management procedures.
Experience with equipment calibrations, maintenance, and repairs preferred.
Work Environment:
Work is conducted primarily in a laboratory setting, requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Exposure to potential hazards, including chemicals, biohazards, and mechanical equipment.
Moderate physical activity, including handling objects up to 40 pounds and standing/walking for extended periods.
Regular stooping, crouching, twisting, kneeling, and squatting may be required.
Some duties may involve work in outdoor environments.
Salary Expectation: $21.00 - $24.00/hr
