Prudential is seeking an innovative, experienced and data driven Vice President of Thought Leadership to join the Retirement Strategies Business Marketing Team.   This newly created, high impact role, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer of Retirement Strategies, will be responsible for developing comprehensive thought leadership programs that are performance driven.   There will be an emphasis on the development of strategic plans and content across all of our Retirement Strategies areas including, Individual (Annuities), Institutional (Risk Transfer, Structured Settlements, Stable value) and our new growth markets (Retail wealth, Defined Contribution, & IMO).    The ideal candidate is a strategic thought leader in the retirement income space with a passion for delivering high impact programs and a track record of achieving key performance metrics and driving business growth.    This person will have a robust appreciation for the efforts it takes to stand up and establish a presence in new markets and will be proactive in anticipating the business’s needs with the ability to identify key opportunities that will drive the businesses’ goals.

The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis in our Newark, NJ, Fort Washington, PA or CT offices as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.

What you can expect:


  • Partner with our Business Line and Marketing leaders to identify and implement key thought leadership programs

  • Partner in the development of our Retirement Strategies Marketing Plan which will be heavily reliant on a thought leadership strategy to drive business results and to improve our presence in the market.   

  • Partner with our internal data and analytics team as well as outside partners in the creation of industry leading research that can be used as a central component to establish ourselves as a leader in the space

  • Drive actionable down funnel executions that can be used to turn engagement into high quality marketing leads for our various sales organizations

  • Work closely with senior business leaders in translating complex cross business messaging into simplified and convincing narratives that can be used externally to drive our key value propositions.

What you’ll need:


  • Minimum of 15 years in marketing and thought leadership, preferably within retirement markets and Retail Wealth Management.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA in marketing preferred.

  • Proven track record with the planning of strategic messaging programs.

  • Experience partnering with multiple thought leaders throughout our business in the development and execution of innovative thought leadership programs.

  • Highly data driven with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent writing capabilities and a strong marketing storyteller

  • Exceptional presentation development skills with the ability to take complicated messages and simplifying them for various audiences.

  • Significant exposure and understanding of the sales process, and successfully creating, implementing and measuring impactful marketing programs

  • Experience in developing thought leadership programs that positions our business as an industry leader with a clear and impactful point of view.

  • Influencer with proven experience working with senior leaders across the organization, making recommendations, and delivering executive updates.

  • Exceptional business and economic trends acumen with the ability to build business cases and demonstrate value of thought leadership programs in driving business outcomes.

  • Demonstrated project management skills, very organized with high attention to detail, and excellent follow-up and follow-through

  • Significant brand building experience through the integration of key messaging platforms across all required work

  • Demonstrated experience with B2B and B2B2C

  • Excellence in developing omni-channel thought leadership marketing campaigns.

  • Understanding of fintech trends and impacts

  • Strong understanding of audience insights including:

    • Experience with retail investor behaviors, preferences, and top concerns.

    • Understanding of journey mapping and audience segmentation

    • Early journey insights/questions.  What drives decision making?

    • Customer insights functional experience preferred.

What we offer you:

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $195,100.00 to $263,900.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
