The Team

The Retirement Strategies Individual Platform team at Prudential collaborates cross-functionally with business partners across Prudential to deliver Annuity product solutions to market.

The Role

The Product Owner Retirement Strategies Individual Product Platform is responsible for cross-functional implementation of new strategic implementation and system administration required to support all Annuities products.   This individual will work with Product, Operations, Distribution, Third Party Vendors, Control Functions and Partner Firms to drive annuity product development solutions that align with our business strategy, modernize our offerings in traditional markets, and support expansion into new markets.

Product Owner on the Retirement Strategies Individual ProductPlatform Journey will be responsible for the following functions:


  • Lead and manage multiple scrum teams participating in including PI/ sprint planning and refinement, providing direction and resolving issues during team stand-ups, and managing dependencies on other teams.

  • Manages prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, performance, and operational support.  Acts as voice of the customer.

  • Owning the project scope of multiple teams to ensure successful delivery, meeting business expectations and established timelines.

  • Document user stories along with acceptance tests.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and product design integrity for new administration processes and capabilities. Complete risk assessments and other controls related processes.

  • Develop implementation approach strategy recommendations to meet organizational objectives.

  • Partner with other Product Teams and vendor partners to define and coordinate implementation of product requirements for all new system administration and service processes requiring support; new product initiatives, in force changes, and defect resolution efforts.

  • Provide input on business scenarios and use cases and support QA processes for new products, new capabilities and enhancements to existing products.

  • Ensure consistency between product specifications, requirements, contract, prospectus, marketing materials, and service Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Develop executive summaries as needed to communicate status, issues and recommendations related to deliverables.

  • Develop and assist with training.

  • Strong annuity knowledge and experience across multiple areas – New Business, Commissions, etc…

Your Expertise

What you’ll need to succeed:


  • 4-7 years’ product management/product owner/product implementation experience or equivalent experience working with the NWOW journeys.

  • 2-5 years Annuities experience required.

  • Experience with FAST platform.

  • Experience in delivering different technologies (API, admin platform, and vendor integrations)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to partner with a wide variety of other functions and levels, including Sales, Service, IT, Control and Actuarial functions.

  • Strength of convictions and ability to influence decisions and champion product administrative or operational changes.

  • Solution oriented with strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to leverage resource materials to support decisions.

  • Must have solid organizational skills with the ability to develop and execute plans.

  • Ability to effectively manage several dissimilar deliverables and prioritize.

  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team or lead a team.

  • Excellent technical financial services product knowledge.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple levels within the internal organization.

  • Agile or other iterative Product implementation methodology experience preferred.

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $160,700.00 to $217,300.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
