Job Description:

The Fuel Dock Attendant is responsible for assisting the customers and guests with vessel fueling and performing a variety of tasks including but not limited to general operation of the docks and assisting boaters.  The Fuel Dock Attendant must work to maintain a safe and clean environment following all safety procedures and policies throughout the docking and fueling process.


 


Candidates should possess a strong customer service orientation, maintaining professionalism and friendliness at all times. They must be able to stay organized and prioritize safety in a fast-paced setting, while also proactively identifying and completing tasks during quieter moments. Candidates need to demonstrate responsibility and trustworthiness when handling inventory and point-of-sale transactions. Effective communication skills are essential, as they consistently interact with diverse clientele, providing assistance and answering questions with clarity and patience. A basic understanding of boat handling is a must to assist customers in safely docking. Physical stamina is also important, as the role involves lifting heavy objects, maneuvering equipment, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. Overall, the ideal candidate is a team player who contributes to a positive and safe environment, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all visitors.


 


 Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Provide SHM members with the best experience possible

  • Greet all customers in a manner that expresses a kind, courteous and professional character

  • Help orient members and guests to the marina, facilities, and answer other commonly asked questions

  • Assist customers throughout the vessel fueling and pumpout process, ensuring safe practices are being followed

  • Assist customers with general boating needs

  • Maintain and clean restrooms, docks, walkways, grounds and other areas designated by management

  • Ensure docks and equipment are operational at all times

  • Daily trash collection and disposal

  • Maintaining inventory at fuel dock, including organizing, cleaning and restocking shelves, inventory counts, etc.

  • Comply with OSHA regulations, environmental regulations, and adhere to all site rules and expectations

  • Availability to work overtime when required

  • Ability to work weekends and holidays

  • Other duties as assigned by Manager


 


Safety and Environmental Responsibilities



  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training

  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area

  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately


 


Technical and Physical Requirements



  • Ability to work safely around the water

  • Must be able to swim

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Ability to lift 30 pounds

  • Basic boat handling skills preferred

  • Previous marina experience preferred

  • Previous customer service experience preferred
