Sales & Business Development Manager - Data Centers (Remote, USA)




Location: Remote (Waukesha, WI) with ability to travel around the US as needed.


Clarke Energy provides distributed power plant solutions with market leading engineering, installation, and maintenance support. We specialize in gas engine power stations and combined heat and power technology, along with renewable natural gas solutions for gas grid injection. Clarke continues to expand our offerings to incorporate renewable energy generation and storage technologies as hybrids, data centers and microgrids and are proud to be an authorized distributor and service provider for INNIO Jenbacher gas engines.


The Sales & Business Development Manager for Data Centers will be responsible for generating and developing national sales opportunities.



Responsibilities:




Sales Focus: Engage with prospective and existing customers to:


  • Develop new projects to maintain a robust proposals pipeline.


  • Convert the proposals pipeline into a profitable and risk-managed order book for Clarke Energy USA, meeting or exceeding sales targets.


  • Promote and differentiate Clarke Energy's offerings from competitors.


  • Establish strong relationships to become a valued technical and commercial resource for customers.


  • Respond to customer inquiries accurately and promptly.


  • Prepare customer-focused technical, pricing, and commercial quotations, feasibility reports, and other documentation, collaborating with internal teams as needed.


  • Manage and update customer records electronically and in hard copy, following internal processes.


  • Conduct research and provide market, competitor, and regulatory feedback to the Marketing team.


  • Contribute to order forecasts, budgets, and sales and marketing plans.


  • Attend conferences and exhibitions as required.


Proposal Development: Define key objectives and options for proposals, coordinate information supply, organize estimates, and define the scope of supply.

Collaboration: Work with Engineering, Commercial, and Project Managers to evaluate technical risks and commercial terms.

Support Proposals Team: Assist in preparing RFQs for suppliers/subcontractors, ensuring specifications and terms and conditions are met.

Monitor Proposals: Track progress and status of proposals, maintaining accurate records.

Technical Reviews: Ensure detailed technical proposals meet customer requirements while maintaining Clarke Energy's internal metrics for margin, commercial risk, and technical risk.

Site Assessments: Conduct technical and layout surveys to assess project feasibility and determine mechanical and electrical integration elements.

Design and Specification: Design, specify, and select scope and balance of plant, including mechanical and electrical systems for operational gas-fired generation plants.

Work in Progress Meetings: Organize regular meetings with the Proposals team, ensuring activities are on target in terms of quality and timelines.

Sales Support: Support the Sales stage of projects, ensuring conceptual design and tender preparation documents meet required timescales and quality standards.

Compliance: Adhere to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management policies and procedures in all work undertaken.



Skills/Requirements




Qualifications




Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:


Education: Degree in Engineering or a related technical field from a recognized institution. Alternative higher education certificates may be considered if supported by relevant industrial experience.

Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical engineering principles.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.

IT Proficiency: Competent in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.

Engineered Solutions: Proven track record in developing and selling engineered solutions, preferably within the Combined Heat & Power (CHP) sector or similar complex energy systems.

Engineering Background: Experience in both electrical and/or mechanical engineering.

CHP Experience: Experience with CHP installations, steam raising plants, and ancillary equipment is desirable but not essential.
