As the Director of Engineering you will lead the waterjet engineering organization, driving the product and technology strategy to enhance customer value and business growth. You need to be a proven technical leader with a track record of setting and executing product strategy across business, functional, and regional teams, and into the sales channel. You will be expected to have and utilize an understanding of Customer/Channel Partner needs and system architecture and technology to design reliable, high-performance, cost-effective products.
The Director of Engineering has a seat on the business steering team, leads a team of sixty (50+) Associates, and partners with sales, marketing, operations, service, quality peers and more.
Who you are as Director of Engineering and what you will bring:
B.S., Engineering degree is required, preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering
15+ years' experience in electromechanical product development
A minimum of 5+ years project management with demonstrated experience in the design of complex, industrial systems and product integration
3-5 years' experience leading leaders in a diverse set of technical teams and managing an engineering lab in support of product and technology improvement and development
Experience mentoring/training the engineering community on complex technical issues
A record of strong communication and collaboration skills; engaging and inspiring team members to go above and beyond
A leader of engineering leaders with well-developed, innovative hands-on project management skills and a broad business understanding
Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills conducive to team development
Demonstrated ability to engage with customers to understand market needs, align product and technology with channel capabilities, and successfully drive product integration in the market
Proven experience with project level directing and leading engineers and cross-functional teams utilizing effective tools and methods, such as modeling, DFMA, FMEA, Design for Reliability, etc. Ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, and reporting
Ability to instill a culture of ownership and accountability
Ability to influence and build buy-in to product/process changes and the investment of resources
Preferred experience that differentiates you:
MS, MEM or MBA is strongly preferred. Additional coursework, advanced degree and/or project management certification is a plus
Experience in a related industry (such as welding, plasma cutting, laser, waterjet, machining centers, routers, Cad/CAM software)
Motion control experience - either robotic or XY
Understand of CNC technology and software
Experience with DFMA
Location: Kent, WA (Relocation assistance is available)
Travel: Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed

$166,239.94-$277,063.20 Annual This is the base pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.
Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
