We are a leading wind-blade manufacturer and the only independent wind blade manufacturer with a global footprint. We are enabling many of the industry’s leading wind turbine original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to outsource the manufacturing of a larger portion of their wind blades, thus expanding their global wind blade capacity. We manufacture advanced composite products to our customers’ exact specifications in facilities designed, built, and strategically located either near our customers’ target markets or in low-cost, world-class locations, to minimize total delivered cost. In addition, we provide global field service maintenance and repairs for wind turbine OEMs and asset owners by leveraging our global footprint and approximately 12,000 capable associates. We are also building a growing global team of experienced technicians to provide best-in-class wind blade service capabilities.  




 About the Role  




The Quality Manager plans and directs quality management activities for the Newton, Iowa manufacturing site, focusing on production and product quality and quality management systems implementation and management.  The role also supervises quality control and quality engineering staff in the implementation of TPI’s quality policy, procedures, and plans.   




 Essential Duties and Responsibilities 





  • Leads quality control, quality engineering, and quality systems activities through a broad-based understanding of business management.  





  • Establishes quality plans and directs activities of assigned staff. 





  • Supervises Quality Department personnel. 





  • Serves as primary contact for customer issues. 





  • Owns the following processes: 





  • Internal audits (QM should be a trained lead auditor) 





  • Customer Feedback 





  • Monitor and Measure (Quality related) 







  • CAPA and Nonconforming Material (MRB) 





  • ISO certification and maintenance 





  • Trains team members on quality related subjects, procedures, work instructions. 





  • Provides input for yearly budgets for quality. 





  • Coordinates quality related matters with other departments, promoting teamwork and continuous improvement in the process.       





  • Supervises subordinate team of quality engineers, quality technicians, and quality control inspectors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 




 Who we’re looking for: 





  • B.S. degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, industrial), and at least 5 years of manufacturing management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 





  • Previous start-up and/or green field operations experience preferred. 





  • Formal training in the field of quality (ISO, TQM, Auditing) and business management. 





  • Computer proficiency including MS Office, and Minitab. 





  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC).  





  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. 





  • Knowledge of metrology (calibration) systems. 





  • Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally, with people at all levels. 





  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles 





  • ISO or TS lead auditor experience preferred.

This position is on site at our wind blade manufacturing site in Newton, Iowa. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
