EPRI provides thought leadership, industry expertise, and collaborative value to help the electricity sector identify issues, technology gaps, and broader needs that can be addressed through effective research and development programs for the benefit of society.
Due to our growing research and development portfolio in the field of transport and storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) and low carbon fuels, including hydrogen (H2), EPRI is seeking a Technical Executive to lead its transport and storage research program. As a leader in this program area, the position requires that the individual have a broad understanding of different modes of transport and underground storage of CO2 and fuels. EPRI is seeking individuals who have direct experience in managing and leading large internal and external research teams with diverse backgrounds in engineering, geology, and geophysics. Experience with writing proposals, applying for, and leading federal research grants is a must.
The candidate will be responsible for setting the technical / programmatic research direction of the Transport and Storage Infrastructure Program, leading, and managing the program. Working collaboratively with engineering, geologic, and support staff, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating research and development strategies, preparing funding proposals, and developing business opportunities. The candidate will identify resources needed to carry out the research, develop and manage program budgets, project contractors, deliverables, and schedules, and prepare and present research reports and results.
Candidates who do not possess demonstrated knowledge and experience in transport and underground storage of CO2 and/or H2 will not be considered for this position.
Demonstrated experience and expertise in the following areas:
Ability to recognize tactical and strategic research problems related to transport and storage that exist or are emerging, and develop new business opportunities and research projects that address these issues.
Manage and lead large research teams and research projects ranging from theoretical (paper studies) to field applications (hands-on projects) for industrial and government customers.
It is imperative that the candidate have a strong foundation in the scientific principles and processes related to fluid dynamics (pipeline transport) and subsurface flow and transport of multiphase fluids through porous media (storage).
