ABOUT THE ROLE

MoFo Next provides market-leading career development and advisory services that empower attorneys, alumni, and friends of the firm to define and shape their careers. The Career Development Relationship Manager will be responsible for fostering, managing, and maintaining strong relationships with partners, clients, the business development team, alumni, career advisors and headhunters to curate placement opportunities for attorneys, alumni, and friends of the firm. This role will play a pivotal role in developing and executing a strategy to build a robust database of in-house and government job and secondment opportunities.

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with partners, clients, alumni, government agencies, and headhunters to generate placement opportunities.
  • Collaborate and partner with the business development and alumni relations team to leverage existing client relationships and expand our network of potential employers; promote MoFo Next as a service to clients, alumni, and friends of the firm as an innovative, value-added resource of the firm.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market demands, and hiring needs to tailor our employer relations strategy accordingly.
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics to assess effectiveness of our employer relations efforts and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct regular outreach to partners to raise awareness about MoFo Next and encourage partners to identify opportunities for firm candidates.
  • Facilitate the process of connecting clients with candidates who have benefitted from MoFo experience, training, and culture.
  • Build and manage a robust database of in-house and government job and secondment opportunities.
  • Develop robust list of alumni, headhunters, and employers.
  • Partner with Career Advising Program Manager to build an opt-in resume database to share with employers. Proactively engage with Partners, clients, alumni, business development and friends of the firm to understand emerging employment opportunities, develop relationships, and present MoFo Next as a source for job referral opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Alumni Relations and Attorney Learning & Development colleagues to develop and present career advancement programs for alumni and friends of the firm.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor's degree required. Juris doctor preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience within a legal or professional services environment strongly preferred; familiarity with firm culture, clients, practices, and lawyers. Nuanced understanding of firm's talent management, and the role of placement in achieving strategic objectives.
  • Strong understanding of the legal market, including law firm structures, practice areas, and hiring trends.
  • Experience in recruiting, or within a higher education or firm career program, especially in-house, government and secondment opportunities.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with partners, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply effective independent judgment and decision making.
  • Understanding of the business of law firms and how best to create strategic career development opportunities to further business goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences. Ability to engage with clients effectively and represent the firm.
  • Exceptional verbal, presentation, and writing abilities.
  • Excellent project management skills; ability to lead complex, detailed projects, and programs. Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  • High level of emotional intelligence – ability to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.
  • Ability to build strong relationships among personnel in different offices.
  • Keen sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent proofreading skills.
  • High client service ethic and a proven record in delivering exemplary client satisfaction to external and internal client constituencies.
  • Ability to travel to clients and other offices as needed. Estimated travel is 20-25 %.

Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications. The application deadline is May 2025.

New York, San Francisco, Palo Alto salary range: $150K to $178K

Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, Washington, D.C. salary range: $140K to $168K

Denver salary range: $135K to $158K
