Under the general direction of the Systems and Network Manager, with oversight from the Network Architect and Engineer, the Network Administrator will assist in efforts surrounding all network infrastructure issues, maintenance, and installation. The Administrator is responsible for serving as an escalation point for all network maintenance and support. The Administrator will serve as the first point of contact for all network connectivity issues, to include LAN/WAN, VPN, and Wireless infrastructure. Proactive monitoring and product updating using tools provided will be one of the primary roles.
JOB EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES
Overseeing Colonial Network standard hardware and software: This includes tasks like implementation, maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting, backups, upgrades, and disaster recovery (DR) support for our Network Infrastructure.
Patching, upgrading, and maintenance on network infrastructure and client software: Specifically focusing on Fortinet OS, Fortinet Clients, FortiGate, FortSwitches, and FortiExtenders.
Maintaining proper ticket hygiene and documentation: Using Manage Engine Service Desk Plus for issues and escalations. The Administrator is responsible for ticket creation, escalation when needed and ticket closure.
Critical Documentation: Develop and maintain clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation for all active network electronics, and related application environments, including detailed design documents, build procedures, training and technical support guidelines.
Proactive network monitoring: Using a variety of monitoring tools to include Mange Engine Opmanager, iGlass monitoring, FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager the Administrator will address issues, escalate, or resolve.
Interacting with end users: Providing support to all subsidiaries to include end users and team members.
Escalating issues: Any problems outside the scope of this role will be escalated to a network engineer or architect.
Coordinating circuit procurement and maintenance: Working with third-party circuit providers.
Assisting in Security issues that have a network impact: Working with the Cyber Security team as needed to resolve security concerns to include diagnosis, triage, and remediation.
Initiative Management: Act as a project lead for small to medium projects and coordinating multiple resources, including peers, vendors and IT Management.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
BS in Information Technology or equivalent experience
Fundamental understanding of Fortinet, Cisco, or other mainstream network technologies
CompTIA Network+ certification, or industry equivalent, or actively pursuing.
Fortinet certifications are preferred but not required. Certification will be a goal within the first year of employment.
2-4 years of proven Network Administration experience
Strong communication skills both written and verbal to interact with end users and team members.
