POSITION SUMMARY:
The University of South Florida College of Nursing is seeking an outstanding Biostatistician tenure-track/tenured faculty member eligible for the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate is expected to actively collaborate with multiple interdisciplinary investigators in the college to achieve outcomes such as grant funding with a focus on federal agencies and publications and serve as a biostatistician or co-investigator on grant proposals. Research faculty in the college conduct multidisciplinary research across a range of health science topics including precision science, social health determinants of health, cancer control, and cardiovascular health, and work with multiple population groups such as minority and underserved communities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Actively collaborate with College of Nursing research teams on individual, center, and training and program project proposals related to study design, protocol development, statistical analysis, data interpretation, and manuscript and grant proposal preparation.
Serve as biostatistician or co-investigator on extra-mural grant proposals.
Critically evaluate optimum analytical methodology for individual projects, centers, and program projects. Guide data analyst staff with respect to statistical methodology and programming.
Actively participate in research development efforts of faculty.
Work with the PhD teaching faculty, teaching statistics courses to doctoral students, revising the statistics courses, and assisting doctoral students with the data analysis of their projects.
Serve on committees at university and college where appropriate and commensurate with rank. Participate in community and professional service activities following the university and college's criteria.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, or related quantitative field with direct application to Health Sciences from an accredited institution.
Demonstrated proficiency in statistical methods for experiment design, sample size, and power analysis, clinical trial designs, longitudinal data analysis, survival data analysis, and high-dimensional data analysis. Strong computational and programming skills with SAS, R, and/or other programs are required.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, a commitment to team science, and effective oral and written communication skills.
Commensurate with faculty rank, the candidate will have produced creative work, professional writing, or research in referred and other professional journals and participated in funded research study teams.
PREFERRED:
History of collaborative funding from extramural agencies, preferably federal funding.
Evidence of consistent publications and scholarly publications.
Experience working with Data Cores, e.g., within the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS), cancer centers, or other similar research centers.
Experience teaching and mentoring PhD students.
