Salary/Position Classification


  • $60,000+ dependent on experience, annual, Exempt

  • 40 hours per week

  • This position will work onsite the Grand Forks, ND campus.


Purpose of Position

The Program Coordinator designs and coordinates events and services that promote culture, belonging, and healthy identity development within The Hilyard Center, Indigenous Student Center, Pride Center, and the Office of Community & Inclusion. They collaborate with university departments to create and market both intra-cultural and cross-cultural programming. With a focus on underserved and marginalized communities, the Program Coordinator develops culturally responsive initiatives that foster resilience, well-being, and inclusion for all students, faculty, and staff.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement programs and events for the Office of Community & Inclusion, The Hilyard Center, the Indigenous Student Center, and the Pride Center.

    • Review and prepare artist contracts to ensure university safety and financial compliance

    • Plan programs and services that support the affinity of underrepresented communities

    • Lead the planning and coordinating of large-scale cultural, art, and community engagement programs such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Indigenous Peoples' Day, Empowered by Our Past, National Coming Out Day, and others

    • Plan and coordinate programs, activities and events for cultural heritage months

    • Lead the planning and coordinating of the Multicultural Conference and the LGBTQ+ Day Long Institute

    • Plan and carryout programming that focuses on faculty, staff, and student engagement, belongingness, and community

    • Stay current on news and trends that focus on underserved communities and respond accordingly with programming and events



  • Market and advertise programs and events.

    • Create content to market events and programs

    • Work with Marketing and/or appropriate departments to create content to market events and programs

    • Capture and share event highlights through appropriate sources (i.e. social media, UND Today, email, listserv, etc.)



  • Collaborate with other departments across campus to support programming and events.

    • Work closely with campus departments to support the Office of Community & Inclusion, The Hilyard, Pride, and Indigenous programming efforts (i.e. Marketing and Communications, TTaDA, etc.)

    • Work closely with campus departments to support their programming efforts



  • Collaborate with the Office of Community & Inclusion, The Hilyard Center, the Indigenous Student Center, and the Pride Center staff and students in support of their departmental efforts.

    • Assist with departmental pop-up programs

    • Assist with other duties, events, experiences as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience working with students of Color and students from other underserved communities

  • Experience developing, coordinating, managing, and evaluating events, programs, and activities

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of professional experience providing collegiate programming services

  • Experience working in a Higher Education environment

  • Exhibited experience and work in equity and inclusion initiatives
