JOB SUMMARY

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing and employee data management. Primary duties include the entry, maintenance, and auditing of employee data and payroll information for approximately 1,000 employees. The Payroll Administrator ensures compliance with corporate policies and tax regulations and partners with Human Resources (HR) and other departments to coordinate data flow and resolve payroll-related inquiries.

This position requires a meticulous approach to resolving payroll issues, assisting employees, and preparing comprehensive payroll reports. Ideal candidates demonstrate a service-oriented disposition, strong process orientation and communication skills, have an exceptional eye for detail and can work well in a deadline driven and compliance-oriented environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Core duties include:

  1. Enter and auditing of employee data; payroll maintenance; and monitoring of employee data.

  2. Assist in the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for approximately 1,000 employees; reviewing and ensuring accuracy of approved changes, updated and special payroll deductions.

  3. Ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; reviewing changes for proper authorization and ensuring corporate policies are in accordance with federal, state, and local tax codes.

  4. Research and resolving payroll problems and processing errors.

  5. Partner with HR personnel to ensure responsive resolution of employee payroll issues/inquiries.

  6. Provide support to employees in answering payroll related questions on an as needed basis.

  7. Coordinate efforts between payroll, human resources, accounting and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including reparation/distribution of detailed reports).

  8. Perform tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for assignment.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY

Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference depending upon the nature of the position

Basic Qualifications


  • U.S Citizenship preferred

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Ability to acquire and maintain any other specific special clearances / access requirements


Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Excel and formula functions

  • Strong interpersonal, and customer skills required

  • Two (2) years general office experience

  • Payroll experience preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and to meet deadlines


Background Prerequisites

Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements

  • Proficiency with internet research, data collection and organization, and email.

  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
