The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate - Emergency Department Short Stay Unit



The Bigelow 12 Emergency Department Short Stay Unit is a thirty-one-bed unit that provides care for a diverse patient population that requires a 24- 72 hour length of stay.

Schedule


  • (3) 12-hour shifts

  • Nights | 7 pm - 7:30 am

  • 36 hours per week

  • Rotational holiday and weekend schedule




What are we looking for?



The Patient Care Associate (PCA) will assist the RNs in the Emergency Department Short Stay Unit with a variety of functions including phlebotomy and EKGs, transport patients, check rooms and equipment, assist patients with dressing and feeding and some clerical functions. Our Patient Care Associate team prides themselves in responding to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

Qualifications

Skills



  • Effective customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff and providers.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and superior organizational skills.

  • Ability to lift and transport patients, using the appropriate physical technique, in a safe manner for the patient and self.

Preferred: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.


Required: Licensed, certified or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR Candidate enrolled in a Nursing program, Pre-Med or PA undergraduate program with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed at time of hire.
