Job Description:

Summary



Performs a wide variety of duties directly related to cafeteria service and sanitation. These duties include all functions relating to serving customers and all functions relating to the proper cleaning, polishing, and sanitizing small and large equipment. Operates cash register. Receives, distributes, totals and verifies money in the cafeteria.


Key Responsibilities




  • Assists in training of new cashiers.

  • Portions desserts and fruits according to Grab & Go par levels following standardized recipes and standard portion sizes.

  • Restocks area with needed items throughout shift.

  • Use of Turbo Chef & Brewing of coffee.

  • Ensures that correct cleaning compounds are always used.

  • Cleans all work areas including tables, chairs, equipment, storage cabinets, glass, and other areas as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Receives money into cash register and distributes change for cafeteria customers, reconciles cash at end of meal period.

  • Is knowledgeable of and can explain to customers, cafeteria discount, scale tare weight methods & The Stop Light Book.

  • Ensures daily signs are displayed according to established menu.

  • Promotes neat and professional image by wearing complete uniform and hospital ID badge.

  • Stocks needed supplies including disposable cups, lids, napkins, all condiments.

  • Ensures cleaning list is completed at end of shift.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.






Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience




Education/Degree



Required


  • High School Graduate or GED preferred.


Experience



Preferred


  • Previous Cahier and Food Service experience preferably in healthcare setting.


Skills (Specific learned activity gained through training (e.g. computer skills, keyboarding, presentation, CPR, ACLS, etc.)


Required


  • Effective verbal, electronic and written communications skills using the English language.

  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion.

  • Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule and/or assignments to meet the needs of the job, unforeseen illness or other crises.

  • Ability in simple accounting and operation of cash register and reconciliation of money.

  • Great customer service skills.

Preferred


  • Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse population.

  • Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team.

  • Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them.

  • High level of service delivery. Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations

  • Attention to detail.
