Job Title: Research Coordinator - School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences

Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000/annual

POSITION SUMMARY:

The University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine invites qualified individuals to apply for a Research Coordinator position within the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences. This is a full- time (1.0 FTE), 12-month temporary position and is renewable based on available funding.

DUTIES:


  • Assists with the grant proposal scientific narrative preparation and implementing qualitative and quantitative research methods/analysis.
  • Prepares and maintains regulatory and compliance documents such as IRB applications
  • Performs project activities such as overseeing the screening and enrollment of potential participants, develops materials to communicate the project to potential participants, coordinates site visits and appropriate collection of data, ensuring quality control in the data, and compiling regulatory reports. Recommends changes in procedures in order to locate, accept, and track study participants. Collects and analyzes data from clinical trials or other medical screenings.
  • Drafts program reports for publication and/or public dissemination. Reviews and edits materials for publication. Composes and disseminates information on studies to participants and the general public.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures. Safeguards University assets. Monitors compliance of study procedures with Federal, State and University regulations. Ensures documents, such as eligibility and informed consent forms, are appropriately gathered and maintained, HIPAA regulations are followed, and that infection control and safety procedures are implemented. Interprets rules and regulations pertaining to clinical research to ensure compliance
  • Prepares correspondence and answers phones. Formulates and maintains bibliographies. Completes applications and forms. Maintains appropriate logs, records, and study materials. Drafts administrative forms and reports. Monitors grant budgets. Creates database for participant information.
  • Manuscript Preparation and Editing: Assist in drafting, editing, and formatting manuscripts, abstracts, and other scientific documents for submission to journals and conferences. This includes working on narrative coherence, grammar, and compliance with journal guidelines.
  • Literature Review: Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to support manuscript development and ensure appropriate citation of relevant studies.
  • Data Organization and Analysis Support: Collaborate with research staff to organize data and, where appropriate, support basic data analysis, tables, and figures for publication.
  • Reference Management: Maintain and update reference databases using tools like EndNote, Mendeley, or Zotero, ensuring accuracy in citation and formatting.
  • Collaboration with Research Team: Coordinate with researchers, statisticians, and other team members to gather necessary materials and ensure accuracy in research findings.
  • Journal Submission Management: Facilitate the submission process by ensuring that all manuscript components are complete and meet submission requirements, and manage revisions and responses to reviewer comments.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of manuscript drafts, submission history, and feedback from co-authors and peer reviewers, providing regular updates to principal investigators and the research team.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in a field directly related to the program responsibilities and one year of professional experience; or Master's degree in an area of specialization appropriate for the program.

Preferred

  • 2-4 years of experience working with grant proposals and managing research studies.
  • Experience in research, academic writing, or manuscript preparation is highly preferred. Familiarity with scientific literature databases (e.g., PubMed) and reference management software is a plus.


FLSB1310 Equivalency:

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
